The 2025 MLB season continues its swing into April, with teams doing everything they can to stay on top of the standings before the season concludes in the fall. Some teams have taken a nosedive in the standings but have plenty of time to make a 180-degree turn for the better.
Here are your MLB Power rankings after week 2.
Who are the top-ranking MLB teams after week 2 of action?
30. Atlanta Braves (last week 29)

The Braves have had the worst start to the 2025 season, with one win against the Marlins so far. The pitching has been doing its job, but the offensive bats have been halted, and it doesn’t help the Braves that Jurickson Profar has been suspended for 80 games for violating the MLB’s PED policies.
Luckily, Spencer Schwellenbach helped the Braves earn their first win of the season in game one against the Marlins. The Braves need to turn things around and fast.
29. Colorado Rockies (last week 23)

The Rockies had a rough week and ended it positively with a 12-5 win over the Athletics in game three of that series. The Rockies have a high strikeout rate and have struggled offensively. Ezequiel Tovar has an ERA of 0.282 so far, but Kyle Freeland gave up three runs and nine hits in game two against the Phillies. It’s already a painful season for the Rockies unless a miracle happens.

28. Chicago White Sox (last week 25)

The White Sox had a tough week two, losing a 1-2 series against the Twins and getting swept by the Tigers. Matt Thaiss and Jacob Amaya drove in runs in game three against the Tigers, but Davis Martin had a rough game against the Tigers in game two, giving up seven earned runs. So far, it looks like a painful season for “the South Siders.”
27. Cincinnati Reds (last week 21)

The Reds have had a rough few games so far this season due to a lackluster offense outside of Elly De La Cruz. The pitching staff is currently doing well, with Nick Lodolo having an ERA of 1.42. TJ Friedli played a good game two against the Brewers, going four for five and hitting a home run. If the Reds don’t turn it around on offense, it’ll be a very long MLB season at the Great American Ball Park.
26. Pittsburgh Pirates (last week 24)

The Pirates had a rough week but managed to steal a win against the Yankees in 11 innings to finish that series on a positive note, thanks to Tommy Pham’s walk-off single in game three. The Pirates have looked broken in most of their games. It’ll be a rough April for the Pirates if the errors, base-running blunders, and offensive struggles continue.
25. Seattle Mariners (last week 18)

The Mariners had a rough week, losing a 1-2 series against the Tigers and getting swept by the Giants. To make matters worse, Victor Robles was carted off the field with a left shoulder injury after making a crazy catch. If Robles is out long-term, it’s a sting to an offense already struggling to score runs.
24. Washington Nationals (last week 19)

The Nationals started the week getting swept by the Blue Jays but managed to take a 2-1 series win over the Diamondbacks. Nathaniel Lowe has three home runs so far and hit his third home run in game one against the Diamondbacks, and Trevor Williams struck out six in five innings in game three against the D-Backs.
Alex Call and Paul DeJong both had two hits and drove in a run in game three, keeping the Nationals’ offense fresh.
23. Minnesota Twins (last week 27)

The Twins managed to defeat the White Sox in a 2-1 series but were dismantled by the Houston Astros in a 1-2 series. Jose Miranda hit a three-run home run to give the Twins the edge in game two against the Astros, but the season has been a very slow start for the team. Luckily, the AL Central is wide open, and anyone can take first place by the end of the MLB season.
22. Baltimore Orioles (last week 15)

It was a rough week for the Orioles as they lost two series against the Red Sox and Royals, respectively. Starting pitching has been brutal, and the offense has been inconsistent. However, Tyler O’Neill had four hits in his Camden Yards debut. The O’s need to play better baseball and not play inconsistent games.
21. Cleveland Guardians (last week 7)

The Guardians had a rough week getting swept by the Padres and lost a 1-2 series against the Angels. José Ramírez hit three home runs in a game one win against the Angels, but Tanner Bibee struggled in game two, giving up eight hits and seven earned runs in four innings. The Guardians have also struggled with runners in scoring position. Something has to change.
20. Kansas City Royals (last week 22)

The Royals started the week on a sour note with a 1-2 series loss to the Brewers but turned things around in a 2-1 series win over the Orioles. Kris Bubic allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out eight through 6 ⅔ innings in game three against the Orioles.
Bubic struck out eight in six scoreless innings in game one against the Brewers, but Michael Lorenzen struggled in game two against the Brewers, allowing four runs and three earned in 5 ⅓ innings in game two. The Royals have a four-game home stand and a 10-game road trip coming up.
19. Tampa Bay Rays (last week 10)

The Rays started the week on a high note, defeating the Pirates two games to one, but were swept by the Rangers. Edwin Uceta had a rough day on the mound in game three, and Jake Magnum had three hits in game two against the Pirates. Luckily for the Rays, they have a 13-game home stand where they can potentially turn things around.
18. Houston Astros (last week 9)

The Astros had a rough week, getting swept by the Giants but winning a 2-1 series over the Twins. Christian Walker and Jeremy Peña had home runs spoiling the Twins’ home opener and relief pitcher Josh Hader retired six batters in game three against the Twins, but the Astros mustered six runs in the series against the Giants. A shocking rough patch for the Astros, who need to turn things around quickly this MLB season.
17. Athletics (last week 17)

The A’s started the week getting swept by the Cubs and ended the week defeating the Rockies two games to one. Brent Rooker and Shea Langeliers hit home runs, which helped the A’s defeat the Rockies in game two, and Jacob Wilson hit a go-ahead two-run single in the 11th inning of game one against the Rockies, but Joey Estes struggled against the Cubs in game one of the series.
16. Toronto Blue Jays (last week 16)

The Blue Jays managed to sweep the Nationals but were easily swept by the Mets. Easton Lucas pitched a good scoreless five innings in game three against the Nationals, but closer Jeff Hoffman had a rough game two against the Mets, and Andres Gimenez scored the team’s only run in game three against the Mets. Luckily, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. agreed to a 14-year $500 million extension to stay a Blue Jay.
15. Arizona Diamondbacks (last week 13)

The Diamondbacks had a surprise 2-1 series win against the Yankees but lost two games to one against the Nationals. Eugenio Suárez hit a grand slam in game one against the Yankees, and Corbin Carroll hit two homers against the Nationals in game one. Still, Corbin Burnes suffered his first loss as an ace pitcher in game three against the Nationals. Competition in the NL West is wild, as the D-Backs need to get back on track.
14. Milwaukee Brewers (last week 30)

What a difference a week makes in the MLB! The Brewers turned things with two series wins against the Royals and Reds. Chad Patrick allowed a run and two hits in 5 ⅓ innings against the Reds in game four, while Jackson Chourio hit two home runs in the same game, and Sal Frelick has a batting average of 0.378 so far, but Nestor Cortes is currently on the injured list due to a flexor strain in his left elbow.
13. St. Louis Cardinals (last week 5)

The Cardinals had a rough couple of games, losing their series against the Angels and Red Sox. Iván Herrera suffered knee inflammation in game three against the Red Sox, while he hit three home runs against the Angels in game three, and Lars Nootbaar has a batting average of 0.353 so far. The Cardinals need to find their identity if they want to stay competitive in the NL Central.
12. Miami Marlins (last week 8)

The Marlins had a bit of a tough series against the Mets but managed to tie the Braves in a 1-1 series. Matt Mervis hit his first two-home run game against the Braves in game two, Sandy Alcantara pitched a good five innings against the Mets in game two, and Otto Lopez has a 0.270 batting average so far. The Marlins had a rough week and need to get back to basics.
11. Boston Red Sox (last week 26)

After opening the season with a 1-3 series loss to the Rangers, the Red Sox are slowly getting their groove back with series wins over the Orioles and Cardinals. Wilyer Abreu so far has a batting average of 0.522, Garrett Crochet threw a career-high eight innings against the Orioles in game two, and the Red Sox hitting remains hot.
10. Detroit Tigers (last week 28)

After getting swept by the Dodgers, the Tigers are starting to come to life, sweeping the White Sox and defeating the Mariners two games to one. Spencer Torkelson had a two-run walk-off double for the sweep against the White Sox, Casey Mize pitched a good game in game two against the Mariners, and Riley Green has a 0.351 batting average so far.
9. Los Angeles Angels (last week 11)

The Angels are starting to emerge with series wins over the Cardinals and Guardians. Mike Trout and Logan O’Hoppe hit two-run home runs in game two of their series against the Guardians, While O’Hoppe homered in four straight games. The Angels need to keep playing like this for a chance at the MLB postseason this fall.
8. New York Mets (last week 20)

Just behind the Phillies are the Mets, who had a good week winning a 2-1 series against the Marlins and swept the Blue Jays for the first time since 2001. Pete Alonso and Juan Soto played very well against the Blue Jays, and Alonso hit a tying home run in game three against the Marlins and hit a grand slam to close game one in the series. The Mets’ offensive bats are starting to emerge.
7. Chicago Cubs (last week 14)

The Cubs had a nice week, sweeping the Athletics and taking a 2-1 series win over the Padres. Shota Imanaga pitched well in game two of the Padres series, Ian Happ scored a run in four of five games in the week, and Kyle Tucker hit a home run against the Athletics in two games of the series. The Cubs are looking sharp and getting back on track.
6. Philadelphia Phillies (last week 4)

The Phillies continue their NL East dominance with a sweep of the Rockies and a 2-1 series win over the Dodgers. Nick Castellanos hit a massive grand slam to close the Dodgers series, Taijun Walker pitched six scoreless innings in game three against the Rockies, and Kyle Schwarber played a good series. The Phillies showed why they can be the defending World Series champs’ kryptonite.
5. San Diego Padres (last week 3)

Similar to the Giants, the Padres are having an incredible start to the 2025 MLB season so far. They may have lost a series to the Cubs, but they swept the Guardians thanks to effective pitching and offense from Jackson Merril and Fernando Tatis Jr.
4. New York Yankees (last week 1)

The Yankees had a rough week at home, losing two games to the Diamondbacks. However, they did make up for it with a series win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Aaron Judge is a home run hitter, Trent Grisham hit two home runs in game two of their series against the Pirates, and Max Fried currently has an ERA of 2.61. The Yankees are still a dangerous foe in the American League.
3. Texas Rangers (last week 6)

The Rangers are on a five-game win streak thanks to Jonah Heim’s walk-off single against the Rays sweeping the series, Nathan Eovaldi pitching a complete game in the team’s 1-0 shutout victory over the Reds, and the relief pitchers playing well, particularly Jacob Webb stranding runners in the ninth inning. If the Rangers continue playing elite baseball, don’t be surprised if they make a serious run in October.
2. Los Angeles Dodgers (last week: 2)

The defending World Series champions continue to play great baseball, sweeping the Braves, but lost their series against the Phillies. Although Roki Sasaki remains winless, the Dodgers’ offensive firepower keeps the team afloat, and the rest of the pitching unit is led by Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Alex Vesia.
1. San Francisco Giants (last week 12)

The Giants are having an incredible start to the 2025 MLB season with a sweep of the Astros and a series win over the Mariners. Matt Chapman has been on fire, leading the team to a 4-1 victory over the Mariners in game two, and has scored three runs so far this season. Wilmer Flores, Luis Matos, and LaMonte Wade Jr. also stepped up for the Giants against the Astros. Watch out, the Dodgers and the Giants are in pursuit of the NL West.
