April may be behind us in the rearview mirror, but competition in the MLB continues to heat up in May. The Dodgers, Padres, and Mets are duking it out for who will earn the best record in baseball, while the playoff contenders are doing everything they can to keep their rosters healthy for another long month ahead of them.
However, some teams continue trending in the wrong direction, as they need to stock up on draft capital and add to their farm systems for a better tomorrow.
Here are your MLB Power Rankings for all 30 teams after week 6.
Who are the top-ranking MLB teams after week 6 of action?
30. Colorado Rockies (Last week 30)

Things in the “Mile High City” continue to trend downwards for the Rockies, as they continue to fall very fast. The Rockies took massive series losses to the Braves and Giants. Kris Bryant even said he has no plans to retire, despite the injury setbacks. It may be time for the Rockies to consider trading away certain talent for draft capital. If the Rockies continue to trend downwards, there may be a chance the Rockies break the White Sox’s horrendous record from 2024.
29. Chicago White Sox (Last week 29)

The White Sox had a rough start to the week, losing a 1-2 series to the Athletics, but won a 2-1 series against the Astros. Miguel Vargas was three for four and had an RBI single against the Brewers in game two, Luis Robert Jr. and Edgar Quero had two hits and two RBIs against the Astros in game one, and White Sox reliever Mike Vasil earned his first win by playing 2 ⅓ scoreless innings. The White Sox showed that they had some fight in them, but they still had a long way to go this MLB season.

28. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last week 28)

The Pirates had a brutal week, losing a 1-2 series to the Cubs and being swept by the Padres. The Pirates were completely shut out in game three against the Padres and game one against the Cubs. Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double in the seventh inning of game two against the Cubs. The Pirates have a lot of ground to work on if they want to stay relevant in the NL Central.
27. Baltimore Orioles (Last week 28)

The Orioles started the week hot with a 2-1 series win over the Yankees, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Royals. Ryan Mountcastle and Ramón Urías both homered in game three against the Yankees, and Dean Kramer allowed three hits in seven innings against the Royals in game one, but Kyle Gibson gave up three runs and five hits in four innings in game three against the Royals. Despite the two wins against the Yankees, the Orioles took an ugly 3-15 loss in game two against the Yankees, and have a lot of work ahead of them.
26. Los Angeles Angels (Last week 28)

The Angels had a very ugly week, losing a 1-3 series against the Tigers and being swept by the Mariners. Kyle Hendricks pitched a strong game against the Tigers in game three, but the Angels squandered a 1-0 lead against the Mariners in game two. Manager Ron Washington told the press that his guys are doing the best they can, and the coaches are also trying their utmost, even though the players on the MLB field must ultimately get the job done. On top of that, Mike Trout sustained a bone bruise against the Mariners, and losing him to any injury stings, even though Trout is on the 10-day Injured List.
25. Miami Marlins (Last week 23)

The Marlins had a tough week, being swept by the Dodgers and losing a 1-2 series against the Athletics. Kyle Stowers hit two home runs, including the game-winning slam in game two against the A’s, but Sandy Alcantara struggled in game two against the Dodgers, allowing seven runs and seven hits in 2 ⅔ innings. The Marlins fought hard against the A’s in game three, but ultimately lost. The Marlins must find their groove again if they want to have a fighting chance in the NL East.
24. Atlanta Braves (Last week 24)

The Braves started the week strong with a 2-1 series win over the Rockies but fell short in a 1-2 series loss against the Dodgers. Chris Sale lost a tough game at home against the Rockies in game three despite allowing five hits in seven innings. Matt Olson recorded a season-high three hits in game two against the Rockies, while Austin Riley hit two home runs against the Dodgers in their game three victory. The Braves’ bats are starting to heat up, but Sale needs to find his rhythm going forward this MLB season.
23. St. Louis Cardinals (Last week 25)

The Cardinals had a good week, winning both their series against the Mets and splitting their series against the Reds. Victor Scott II, Lars Nootbaar, and Masyn Winn each hit consecutive home runs in the ninth inning of game two against the Reds, Wilson Contreas hit the game-winning RBI single against the Mets in game two, and Contreas hit a three-run home run against the Reds in game three. The Cardinals had a hot week despite some rain, and must get back on track in the NL Central.
22. Minnesota Twins (Last week 22)

The Twins were swept by the Guardians, but turned things around in a massive 2-1 series win over the Red Sox. The Twins put up a fight against the Guardians in game three, but lost 3-4 in 10 innings. Kody Clemens hit a two-run homer against the Red Sox in game two, and Harrison Bader hit a crucial double against the Red Sox in game three. The Twins have momentum, but need to use that offensive firepower in their upcoming games.
21. Toronto Blue Jays (Last week 21)

The Blue Jays may have won a 2-1 series against the Red Sox, but they lost a tough 1-2 series against the Guardians at home. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a three-run homer against the Red Sox in game three, Bowden Francis allowed four runs and six hits in 4 ⅓ innings in game three against the Guardians, and Alejandro Kirk hit a walkoff bases-loaded single in the 10th inning of game two against the Red Sox. A somewhat good week 6 in the MLB for the Blue Jays, but the series loss to the Guardians stings.
20. Washington Nationals (Last week 20)

The Nationals started the week rough, losing a 1-2 series against the Phillies, but won a 2-1 series against the Reds. Jake Irvin allowed eight hits and two strikeouts in six innings played in game two against the Phillies. Amed Rosario drove in four runs in game two against the Reds, and Luis García Jr. homered in a wild seventh inning in game three against the Reds. Rosario and García Jr. are the heartbeat of the Nationals’ offense, and they need to keep hitting and staying hot in the competitive NL East.
19. Tampa Bay Rays (Last week 16)

The Rays lost a brutal sweep against the Royals to begin the week, but had a tremendous 2-1 series win over the Yankees. Shane Baz gave up seven runs, nine hits, and three walks in 5 ⅔ innings against the Royals in game three. However, the Rays overcame Aaron Judge’s 11th home run and the Yankees in game two, and Jonathan Aranda homered and had a two-run single in game three against the Yankees. The Rays are competitive and can compete with highly ranked opponents when it matters, even though they were swept by the Royals.
18. Texas Rangers (Last week 12)

The Rangers had a rough week, not only losing their series against the Athletics and Mariners but also firing offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker as a result of their recent struggles. The Rangers’ offense couldn’t get anything going against the Mariners for two games until they won game three of the series, thanks to Corey Seager and Adolis García hitting two-run singles. With Ecker out as offensive coordinator, the Rangers must find a way to turn things around on offense against other MLB teams.
17. Milwaukee Brewers (Last week 19)

The Brewers earned a nice 2-1 series win over the White Sox, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Cubs. Freddy Peralta pitched a solid six innings against the Cubs in game three, Isassc Collins hit his first career home run against the White Sox in game one, and Jake Bauers hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning of game two against the White Sox. The Brewers showed fight and grit, but must turn things around offensively more often in key divisional series.
16. Houston Astros (Last week 14)

The Astros earned a good 2-1 series win over the Tigers, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the White Sox. Yainer Diaz drove in three runs in the Astros’ game two win over the Tigers, Jose Altuve hit a two-run homer in game one against the Tigers, and Jake Meyers hit two home runs in game two against the White Sox. Astros’ pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. made his return to the mound in game three against the White Sox after missing the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but allowed three hits, three walks, and four strikeouts during the game. McCullers Jr. should readjust alright in the majors.
15. Boston Red Sox (Last week 9)

The Red Sox had a rough week, losing their series against the Blue Jays and Twins. Wilyer Abreu hit a three-run homer against the Blue Jays in game one, Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer in game two against the Blue Jays, and Hunter Dobbins allowed seven hits and two strikeouts in 5 ⅕ innings against the Twins in game two. The Red Sox are looking to trade for a reliable relief pitcher to add to their bullpen, and so far, they have their eyes on Nationals relief pitcher Kyle Finnegan. If Finnegan gets traded to the Red Sox, they might make a strong MLB postseason push.
14. Cincinnati Reds (Last week 11)

The Reds had a tough week, splitting a series against the Cardinals and losing a tough series against the Nationals at home. Nick Martinez pitched a phenomenal six innings against the Cardinals in game one, Jose Trevino hit a two-run homer in game four against the Cardinals, and Hunter Greene struck out 12 in six innings in game one against the Nationals. Despite the Reds’ bullpen doing some good things in the week, the Reds were set back by painful losses against opponents who will likely not make a postseason push.
13. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last week 13)

The Diamondbacks started the week hot with a 2-1 series win against the Mets on the road, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Phillies on the road. Corbin Burnes earned his first win despite striking out three in six innings in game two against the Mets. The D-Backs overpowered the Mets in game three, despite Juan Soto hitting his first home run at Citi Field as a Met. However, the D-Backs had relief issues, barely any offensive momentum, and slumping stars in their 1-2 series loss against the Phillies. The NL West is extremely competitive, and the D-Backs must turn things around.
12. Athletics (Last week 17)

The Athletics turned the page and are on the right track, winning their series against the Rangers and Marlins. Brent Rooker hit a tie-breaking two-run homer, which was followed up by Lawrence Butler hitting his first career grand slam against the Rangers in game three. Jeffrey Springs threw six scoreless innings against the Rangers in game four, and Gunnar Hoglund won his major league debut against the Marlins in game one, by only allowing one run in six innings. The A’s ended the month of April on a high note and began the month of May ready to roll.
11. Kansas City Royals (Last week 18)

The Royals had an incredible week, sweeping the Rays and winning a 2-1 series against the Orioles. Bobby Witt Jr. extended his hitting streak to 22 games, but it came to an end against the Orioles in game one. Kris Bubic pitched a great five innings against the Orioles despite the rain, and Noah Cameron took a no-hitter to seven innings against the Rays in game two. Despite Witt Jr.’s 22-game hitting streak getting snapped, he and the Royals’ offense had a very hot week and are ready to scotch their next competition in the coming weeks.
10. New York Yankees (Last week 6)

The Yankees had a rough week, losing their series against the Orioles and Rays, even though the Yankees have control of first place in the AL East… for now. Aaron Judge hit his 11th home run of the season in game two against the Rays, the Yankees gave the Orioles a 15-3 beatdown in game two, and Max Fried struck out six and allowed one hit in seven innings in game one against the Rays.
The Yankees’ roster took a hit as Jazz Chisholm Jr. suffered an oblique strain and could miss four to six weeks. The Yankees already don’t have Giancarlo Stanton, who is dealing with tendinitis in both of his elbows, and need to keep their star MLB players as healthy as possible.
9. Philadelphia Phillies (Last week 15)

The Phillies had a very nice week, winning their series against the Nationals and Diamondbacks. Kyler Schwarber hit a massive three-run home run against the Nationals in game two, and Aaron Nola pitched six shutout innings for the Phillies against the D-Backs in game two. The Phillies put up a strong fight against the D-Backs in game three, but ultimately lost a tough one at home. If the Phillies keep playing strongly on offense, they could overtake the Mets for first place in the NL East.
8. Cleveland Guardians (Last week 10)

The Guardians had a solid week, sweeping the Twins and winning a 2-1 series against the Blue Jays. Bo Naylor hit a three-run home run, and Emmanuel Chase earned a save against the Twins in game two. Daniel Schneemann hit his first career grand slam against the Blue Jays in game two, and Kyle Manzardo hit a homer to close the Twins out in game one.
José Ramírez suffered an ankle sprain in game one against the Blue Jays, even though he returned to the lineup, and Tanner Bibee suffered leg cramps after five innings against the Blue Jays in game three, showing the Guardians need to be very careful with key guys in their lineup moving forward.
7. Seattle Mariners (Last week 8)

The Mariners had a huge week, sweeping the Angels and winning a 2-1 series against the Rangers. Jorge Polanco had two homers and five RBIs in game one against the Angels, Cal Raleigh hit a grand slam and another home run in game one against the Rangers, and Rowdy Tellez hit an RBI single to help beat the Rangers in game two. The Mariners’ offense is getting hot and needs to stay hot for a strong MLB postseason run.
6. Chicago Cubs (Last week 5)

The Cubs played a great week of baseball, winning their divisional series against the Pirates and Brewers. Seiya Suzuki homered twice in game three against the Pirates, Michael Busch hit his first career grand slam against the Brewers in game one, and Kyle Tucker continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the North Side of the “Windy City.” The Cubs are playing incredible baseball, and their offensive firepower should strike fear in opposing pitchers.
5. San Francisco Giants (Last week 2)

The Giants started the week getting swept by the Padres in two games, but rebounded in a 3-1 series win over the struggling Rockies. Justin Verlander struck out four, but allowed five hits, two runs, and a home run in the Giants’ 3-4 game one loss against the Rockies. Robbie Ray held the Rockies to two singles in over seven innings in game two, and Willie Adames hit two home runs and drove in three runs in game four against the Rockies. The Giants are on a good track so far in a wild NL West. However, Verlander will eventually earn that first win as a San Francisco Giant.
4. Detroit Tigers (Last week 4)

Despite losing a tough 1-2 series against the Astros, the Tigers took care of business in a 3-1 series win over the Angels. Dillon Dingler hit a three-run homer against the Angels in game one, Javy Báez hit his ninth career grand slam in game three against the Astros, and Reese Olson struck out eight in over five innings played in game four against the Angels. The Tigers are playing phenomenal offense, and must keep it up with competition soaring in the AL Central this MLB season.
3. New York Mets (Last week 1)

The Mets took a stumble, losing their series against the Diamondbacks and Cardinals. Juan Soto may have hit his first home run at Citi Field, but the D-Backs scored first and ultimately defeated the Mets in game three. Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo both homered against the Cardinals in game one, and Blade Tidwell started to play well in his MLB debut, but the Cardinals got the win in game two. Tidwell must learn how to maintain pitching control in a Major League game, instead of unraveling against opposing MLB batters. The Mets should be able to bounce back from their painful week.
2. San Diego Padres (Last week 7)

The Padres had an incredible week, sweeping both the Giants and Pirates with ease. Stephen Kolek struck out four and allowed four hits in 5 ⅔ innings in game three against the Pirates. Elias Díaz homered and scored twice, while Fernando Tatis Jr. had three hits in game two against the Giants, and Luis Arraez had three hits and drove in three runs in game one against the Pirates. The Padres’ bats are hot, and the competition for first place in the NL West is getting wild.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last week 3)

The Dodgers played an incredible week of baseball, sweeping the Marlins and winning a 2-1 series against the Braves. The Dodgers had 18 hits in their 15-2 dominating game two win over the Marlins, Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one hit through six scoreless innings in game one against the Braves, and Freddie Freeman had a home run and four RBIs against the Braves in game two.
The Dodgers retook the best record in the Majors, even though they lost to the Braves in game three of their series. However, the Padres are not far behind them and will give the Dodgers some intense competition when they square off this MLB season.
