With two weeks in May crossed off, the best baseball teams are keeping their bats hot and their pitchers slaying the competition. Some MLB teams have stumbled and must rebound, while others are starting to gain the boost they need for strong weeks ahead.
A lot changes every day, and we at TPS look forward to what will happen with MLB teams on the rise and the teams looking to hit the reset button.
Here are your MLB Power Rankings for all 30 Teams after week 7.
Who are the top-ranking MLB teams after week 7 of action?
30. Colorado Rockies (Last week 30)

The Rockies’ downward spiral continues. The team was swept by the Tigers and lost a 1-2 series against the Padres. Although Hunter Goodman hit a homer, a double, a triple, and had five RBI’s against the Padres in game three, it’s not enough for the Rockies’ season, sinking faster than the Titanic. Things have been so awful for the Rockies that the team fired manager Bud Black as a result of the painful season.
29. Chicago White Sox (Last week 29)

Another week, another tough outing for the White Sox after being swept by the Royals, but they secured a 2-1 series victory against the Marlins. The White Sox currently have a 1-18 record at Kauffman Stadium due to offensive woes this MLB season.

However, the South Siders bounced back against the Marlins thanks to Tim Elko hitting a three-run homer in game three of that series. Despite getting swept by the Royals, the White Sox made lemonade from their series against the Marlins and must turn things around with more series wins.
28. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last week 28)

Similar to the Rockies, the Pirates are also experiencing a downward spiral. They were swept by the Cardinals, but won a 2-1 series against the Braves. Mitch Keller allowed seven hits in six-plus innings in game three against the Cardinals, Andrew McCutchen hit a double, allowing Bryan Reynolds to score in game one against the Braves, and Joey Bart hit a hard ground ball to walk the Pirates off against the Braves in game three.
The Pirates also canned Derek Shelton after their sweep against the Cardinals and replaced him with Don Kelly, who oversaw “the Buccos” capture a series win. Will Kelly help turn the Pirates around? We’ll just have to wait and see.
27. Miami Marlins (Last week 25)

The Marlins had a brutal week, losing both their series against the Dodgers and the White Sox. Jesús Sánchez hit an RBI single to defeat the Dodgers in game two, Max Meyer allowed five hits in six innings played against the White Sox in game one, and Agustin Ramirez hit a three-run home run in game one against the Dodgers, but his efforts weren’t enough in the 4-7 loss.
The Marlins are on a downward trajectory due to poor offense, injuries, and defensive errors, and must turn the sinking ship around quickly this MLB season.
26. Washington Nationals (Last week 20)

The Nationals had a rough week, losing a 1-2 series against the Guardians and getting swept by the Cardinals. José Tena hit a go-ahead double to help defeat the Guardians in game one, but the team has been struggling offensively, and pitching has been dull. The Nationals are under 0.500, and their trajectory is on the wrong track. We’ll just have to wait and see if they can turn things around.
25. Los Angeles Angels (Last week 26)

The Angels started the week on a positive note, winning a 2-1 series against the Blue Jays, but lost a 1-2 series against the Orioles. Yoán Moncada hit a three-run home run against the Blue Jays in game one, and Matthew Lugo had an RBI triple against the Orioles in game two, but Kyle Hendricks allowed six hits and had three errors in five innings played against the Orioles in game one. The Angels’ pitching is a massive problem for this MLB team, and it must improve as soon as possible.
24. Baltimore Orioles (Last week 27)

The Orioles started the week getting swept by the Twins, but snagged a 2-1 series win over the Angels. The Orioles struggled offensively against the Twins, but Gunnar Henderson had two RBIs against the Angels in game one, and Maverick Handley had two RBIs against the Angels in game three. Despite the offensive struggles, the Orioles’ series win against the Angels should be an upswing for the team to move out of last place in the AL East.
23. Tampa Bay Rays (Last week 19)

The Rays had a rough start to the week, getting swept by the Phillies, but won a 2-1 series against the Brewers. Yandy Diaz hit a three-run home run against the Phillies in game three, and Travis Jankowski hit the game-winning RBI in game two against the Brewers, but Drew Rasmussen allowed four hits, three earned runs, and three strikeouts in five innings played. The Rays played well against the Brewers, but have a lot to improve upon after getting swept by the Phillies.
22. Cincinnati Reds (Last week 14)

The Reds had a brutal week, losing their series against the Braves and the Astros. The Reds scored 10 runs in the first inning of game two against the Astros, and TJ Friedl hit two homers against the Braves in game three, but the injury bug has affected the roster. Key guys like Hunter Greene (groin), Tyler Callihan (fractured forearm), and Rhett Lowder (forearm) missing time will significantly impact games. Younger guys in the rotation must step up for the Reds this MLB season.
21. Atlanta Braves (Last week 24)

The Braves won a solid 3-1 series against the Reds, but lost a 1-2 series against the Pirates. AJ Smith-Shawver took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of game one against the Reds, Drake Baldwin hit the game-winning RBI single in game four against the Reds, and Matt Olson scored the winning run off a wild pitch against the Pirates in game two.
Despite winning against the Reds, the Braves struggled offensively in game three against the Pirates and weren’t able to capitalize on a late-inning comeback. The Braves must turn things around quickly.
20. Milwaukee Brewers (Last week 17)

The Brewers started the week on a high note, winning a 2-1 series against the Astros, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Rays on the road. Tobias Myers pitched 5 ⅓ solid innings against the Astros in game one, Jake Bauer hit a two-run home run against the Astros in game two, and Christian Yelich and William Contreras hit back-to-back home runs against the Rays in game three. Despite dropping two games to the Rays, the Brewers are doing everything they can to climb up in the NL Central rankings.
19. Texas Rangers (Last week 18)

The Rangers started the week with a 1-2 series loss against the Red Sox, but turned things around in a 2-1 series win over the Tigers. Adolis García and Josh Jung both hit solo home runs against the Red Sox in game two. Jacob deGrom allowed five hits but struck out 10 batters in game two against the Tigers, and Nathan Eovaldi pitched seven shutout innings against the Tigers in game three. Despite the series win against the Tigers, the Rangers’ offense remains inconsistent and must turn things around for the rest of this MLB season.
18. Toronto Blue Jays (Last week 21)

The Blue Jays started the week rough with a 1-2 series loss against the Angels, but managed to sweep the Mariners to conclude the week. The Blue Jays rallied from being down four runs in game three against the Angels, Addison Barger had three doubles to help the team defeat the Mariners in game one, and George Springer hit a three-run home run in game three against the Mariners. The Blue Jays turned the page very well against the Mariners and must keep the momentum against their upcoming opponents in week eight.
17. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last week 13)

The Diamondbacks stumbled during the week, losing a 1-2 series against the Mets, but split their four-game series against the Dodgers. Zach Gallen pitched seven strong innings against the Mets in game two, Gabriel Moreno hit a grand slam off Yoshinobu Yamamoto in game one, and Corbin Burnes pitched a solid seven innings against the Dodgers in game three.
The D-Backs and Dodgers played an intense game two of their series, with the D-Backs heartbreakingly losing 11-14. However, the D-Backs should bounce back from that series and get the ball rolling against their opponents in week eight of the MLB.
16. Athletics (Last week 12)

The A’s had a rough week, losing their series against the Mariners and Yankees. Shea Langeliers had five RBIs against the Yankees in game two, but Luis Severino gave up nine hits and had eight earned runs in four innings in game three against the Yankees, and Jacob Wilson had two doubles and drove in a run in game three against the Mariners. The A’s offense couldn’t land most of their hits against the Yankees’ pitchers, and Severino struggled against his former team on the mound.
15. Minnesota Twins (Last week 22)

The Twins had an immaculate week, sweeping the Orioles and Giants at home. Pablo López struck out 11 batters in game one against the Orioles, and Trevor Larnach hit a massive two-run homer against the Giants in game two. If the Twins keep the offensive and pitching momentum up, they can steal first place in the AL Central from the Tigers. It all depends on how they’ll perform in their upcoming MLB games.
14. Houston Texans (Last week 16)

The Astros started the week rough with a 1-2 series loss against the Brewers, but defeated the Reds in a 2-1 series. Ronel Blanco struck out 11 batters in game three against the Reds, Framber Valdez pitched seven strong innings against the Brewers in game three, and Hunter Brown struck out nine in game one against the Reds. The Astros’ pitching has played solid defense against opposing hitters, and should frighten their upcoming opponents in the coming weeks.
13. Boston Red Sox (Last week 15)

The Red Sox had a good week, winning their series against the Rangers and Royals. Alex Bregman hit a solo home run and a tie-breaking two-run single against the Rangers in game two, Garrett Crochet allowed one run, seven hits, and struck out nine in game two against the Royals, and Lucas Giolito earned his first win since 2023 in the Red Sox’s game three win over the Royals. The Red Sox are a dangerous dark-horse team the AL East must watch out for in the coming weeks in the MLB.
12. St. Louis Cardinals (Last week 23)

The Cardinals had an incredible week, sweeping the Pirates and Nationals. Sonny Gray pitched seven strong innings against the Pirates in game three, Erick Freddie earned his first career shutout in game one against the Nationals, and Lars Nootbaar, Wilson Contreras, and Nolan Arenado each homered in game three against the Nationals. The Cardinals are starting to put things together on offense and defense and look more dangerous than ever. Don’t sleep on the Cardinals.
11. Seattle Mariners (Last week 7)

The Mariners started the week well with a 2-1 series win over the Athletics, but took a stumble getting swept by the Blue Jays. Julio Rodriguez went three for four and had a solo home run against the A’s in game one, and the Mariners rallied against the A’s in game two, but the Mariners’ offense was muted in their series against the Blue Jays, and Bryce Miller struggled in game three against the Blue Jays. The Mariners must turn things around quickly. Otherwise, they’ll lose the top spot in the AL West.
10. Chicago Cubs (Last week 6)

The Cubs had a rough week, losing their series against the Giants and Mets. Ian Happ had a homer and drove in three runs against the Giants in game one, but the Cubs’ offense couldn’t get anything going against the Giants and Mets throughout the week, and Ben Brown allowed six hits and three earned runs in game three against the Giants. If the Cubs continue to fall flat, the Cardinals could swoop in and snag first place in the NL Central.
9. Kansas City Royals (Last week 11)

The Royals started the week with a bang, sweeping the White Sox in four games, but lost a 1-2 series against the Red Sox. Bobby Witt Jr. had four hits against the White Sox in game four, Cole Ragans had 11 strikeouts against the White Sox in game one, and Freddy Fermin hit a line drive RBI to defeat the Red Sox in the 12th inning.
However, the Royals dropping their last two games against the Red Sox hurts. Especially losing 1-10 against the Red Sox in game two, where Ragans gave up four runs on seven hits in five innings. The Royals must rebound in their upcoming schedule in the MLB.
8. Cleveland Guardians (Last week 8)

The Guardians started the week well, winning a 2-1 series against the Nationals, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Phillies. Carlos Santana hit a three-run homer against the Nationals in game two, José Ramírez, Kyle Manzardo, and Angel Martínez each hit home runs in game one against the Phillies, and Santana had a base-clearing double in game three against the Nationals. The Guardians are playing good baseball, but struggled in their series against the Phillies’ tough pitchers.
7. New York Yankees (Last week 10)

The Yankees had a very nice week, winning their series against the Padres and Athletics. Aaron Judge had four hits against the A’s in game three and raised his batting average to 0.409. Austin Wells hit his first career grand slam and had five RBIs against the Padres in game two, and Jasson Dominguez hit three home runs against the A’s in game one. The Yankees’ bats were incredible against the competition at home and on the road, and must stay hot for the coming weeks.
6. San Francisco Giants (Last week 5)

The Giants started the week well with a 2-1 series win over the Cubs, but were swept by the Twins. Patrick Bailey hit a tiebreaking single in game two against the Cubs, winning the game 14-5, and Robbie Ray pitched six strong innings against the Cubs in game three. However, the Giants fell flat against the Twins due to poor timing and being outplayed all series long. If the Giants continue to drop key games, they can kiss their dreams of reaching the 2025 MLB postseason goodbye.
5. Philadelphia Phillies (Last week 9)

The Phillies had a strong week, sweeping the Rays and winning a 2-1 series against the Guardians. Christopher Sánchez allowed one hit and struck out five in six innings against the Rays in Game Two. Brandon Marsh and Trea Turner both had two hits and drove in a run in Game Three against the Rays, and Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs to tie Aaron Judge in Game Three against the Guardians. The Phillies are playing phenomenally and must keep this momentum going if they want to catch up to the Mets in the NL East.
4. San Diego Padres (Last week 2)

The Padres may have lost a tough 1-2 series against the Yankees, but they bounced back with a dominating 2-1 series win over the Rockies. Manny Machado had a two-run double, and Xander Bogaerts had a two-run single in game one against the Yankees. The Padres had five home runs against the Rockies in game two, winning 21-0, and Stephen Kolek had seven strikeouts in nine innings in game two against the Rockies. Despite the two losses against the Yankees, the Padres are a strong offensive MLB team that can make a lot of noise with their bats.
3. Detroit Tigers (Last week 4)

The Tigers started the week hot, sweeping the Rockies, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Rangers. Casey Mize pitched six effective innings against the Rockies in game two, Keider Montero pitched eight great innings against the Rockies in game three, and Spencer Torkelson hit a go-ahead double in the 10th inning of game one against the Rockies.
Getting the sweep against the Rockies was solid for Detroit, but the 1-2 series loss to the Rangers will hurt, as the Twins are starting to rise in the AL Central standings. The Tigers must bounce back from their series loss against the Rangers.
2. New York Mets (Last week 3)

The Mets had a strong week, winning their series against the Diamondbacks and Cubs. Juan Soto homered in consecutive at-bats against the D-Backs in game three, Francisco Lindor hit a home run and three hits in game one against the Cubs, and Lindor hit a massive home run in game three against the Cubs. The Mets are playing incredible offense in their MLB games, and must keep the momentum going if they want to catch up to the Dodgers.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last week 1)

The Dodgers had a good week, winning a 2-1 series against the Marlins, but tied their series against the Diamondbacks. Freddie Freeman singled twice and hit a bases-loaded triple in game three against the Marlins, Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run in game two against the D-Backs, and Tony Gonsolin struck out four in five scoreless innings against the D-Backs in game four. The Dodgers still have the league’s best offense and a great pitching unit backing them up. Despite several losses in the week, the Dodgers remain tough to beat moving forward.
