The Atlanta Braves are facing a disappointing season so far. And their fanbase is speculating about their potential moves at the MLB trade deadline.
Reports indicate that, despite their struggles, the team is not expected to be significant sellers. If they do make a move, it is likely to involve designated hitter Marcell Ozuna, primarily because he is in a contract year.
Recently, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that despite the Braves not being aggressively pursuing to sell players off, Ozuna might be on the move.

The Dominican Republic star has a stat line of .262 batting average, .403 on-base percentage, and an .841 OPS, with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in 210 at-bats. He has managed to lower his strikeout rate and boasts the highest walk rate in the league this season.
However, he has predominantly played as a designated hitter, with minimal time spent in the outfield.

If Ozuna is traded, the acquiring team would only take on a portion of his $16 million salary for the year, making him a relatively affordable option.
Additionally, the Braves should keep other significant players, including All-Star Chris Sale. Fans expect him to remain with the team as they look to improve in the 2026 season. Raisel Iglesias may also be a candidate for trade if his performance improves.
Cleveland Guardians Emerges As Probable Suitor For Atlanta Braves’ Marcell Ozuna

As the mid-season mark approaches, the Cleveland Guardians emerges as potential suitors for power hitters in trade talks.
Recently, on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight, both Buster Olney and Jeff Passan speculated about the possibility of the Guardians acquiring Marcell Ozuna from the Braves.
“It would be interesting to see Marcell Ozuna, like, in the middle of [the lineup], and I’m just pulling a team out of the air, the Detroit Tigers. Drop an established hitter like that into that group, or Cleveland,” Passan said.

Given the Braves’ current struggles, sitting 10 games under the .500 mark, trading away a player like Ozuna may be a strategic move. The 34-year-old is having a decent season, hitting .257 with 10 home runs and an OPS of .827.
Although he started as an outfielder, he has primarily served as a designated hitter for Atlanta, contributing power in the lineup.
