Before the season began, some believed the Los Angeles Dodgers were on track for a historic run, maybe even a 120-win season. But Mookie Betts isn’t buying into the hype.
Speaking with FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Betts gave a candid response when asked about the preseason chatter. “To expect someone to win 120 games because you have a good roster doesn’t mean anything,” Betts said. “There’s a lot of variables that kinda go into it.”
While the Dodgers are still near the top of the NL West, the road has been anything but smooth. At 32-20, L.A. has remained a strong force in the National League, but they have struggled with consistency and, more importantly, health.
Dodgers’ Injury Woes

Injuries to key players, especially in the pitching rotation, have made it difficult to build momentum. Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki have all missed time. Meanwhile, their offense has had to carry the load with stars like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Shohei Ohtani leading the charge.
But as Betts points out, even with talent, nothing is guaranteed. “It’s hard, man. Playing the game is hard,” he said. “Everybody out here is trying to win.”

When asked how good the Dodgers could be at full strength, Betts was optimistic but realistic. “I think we could be really good… but the main thing is getting the guys on the field. That’s the number one priority.”
He also highlighted the strain on pitchers in today’s game. “It’s hard to stay healthy, especially pitchers nowadays. Everybody’s throwing 100. I’m not sure your arm is really meant to do that.”
The Dodgers still have the pieces to make a deep postseason run. But as Betts made clear, records, predictions, and paper rosters don’t mean much. The focus now is to stay healthy.
