Mookie Betts is not having the perfect season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Betts, who is known to deliver, is struggling to make ends meet this time. The All-Star slugger was shifted back to the infield and gladly embraced the shortstop position.
However, questions swirl around his recent offensive struggles and his transition to the infield. Betts is hitting .259 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs. His numbers are not too bad, but they fall short of his usual MVP-caliber standards. These numbers have fueled concerns among fans, and many think that Betts’ shift to SS has put him in a tough spot to perform offensively.
After the Dodgers vs. Mets game, Mookie Betts answered a couple of questions on his current offensive slump. The Dodgers star shut down the third base concerns by taking the blame for his struggles.
“No. Last year I think I was about to win MVP. Last year I was doing way more work than now. So that’s not the case. There’s no excuses. It’s just a matter of me getting it done,” Betts said.
