Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo wasn’t about to let things slide when a heckler crossed the line with a vile comment about Ketel Marte’s late mother during their 4-1 win over the White Sox, in which Marte hit a home run. And now, there is a video proof.
It all started when Marte was visibly shaken and broke down mid-game. Marte’s teammates and the Diamondbacks crew ran to the field to comfort him. After the terrible incident, Lovullo was seen hugging Marte and talking to him. At the time, most assumed it was a moment of quiet support. Turns out, it was only half the story.
The Diamondbacks manager ensured to play his part well by going all out and confronting the heckler to defend his player.

A new video has surfaced showing what happened before that emotional hug. Lovullo was seen storming toward the stands, clearly furious. He pointed at a fan and shouted at stadium security, demanding they remove the person responsible for a disgusting personal insult directed at Marte.

The MLB took decisive action against the fan and has banned him indefinitely from all MLB ballparks. The Arizona team, in a statement, also added that the 22-year-old heckler admitted to being very inappropriate and was remorseful for his act.
“Ketel Marte is a remarkable young man. He’s incredibly strong, and last night was not easy for him,” Lovullo told reporters via Arizona Sports. “We’re waking up today, and we’re grateful for the support that the baseball world and fans of Arizona have given us. The Chicago White Sox as well. They’ve been very supportive. We’re ready to move on, and I think that’s the best thing for everybody.”
The Diamondbacks will be back in action on Friday, June 27, against the Miami Marlins. However, the incident has left a deep scar on Ketel Marte.
