The Los Angeles Dodgers are struggling, to say the least.
And they learnt it firsthand during the tough night against the New York Mets.
Their 6-1 loss against the Mets only added to the frustration. However, there’s one name that is turning a lot of excitement off. And that is outfielder Michael Conforto.
Conforto is struggling at the plate for a little more than some time. During the game, he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, which has become an all-too-familiar story this season for the former All-Star.

Conforto’s batting average has dipped to just .165, with only three home runs and 9 RBIs in 170 at-bats this year. When the Dodgers brought him on board this offseason, expectations were high.
However, the ongoing slump has become a problem that the team can’t ignore any longer.

If the Dodgers have to build around Shohei Ohtani, as far as we can see, they should exclude Conforto from the discussion. This is a little harsh, but it is what it is.
Dodgers Manager Opens Up On Michael Conforto Situation

While some of the Dodgers fans could sympathize with Michael Conforto, it’s better fixed before the trade deadline.
Recently, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opened up about Conforto’s struggles. After the game, he noted that it looks like Conforto is caught in a tough spot. He’s been trying to do too much while also being a bit hesitant at the plate.
“Even today, I thought he had a really good at-bat… he lined it to Nimmo. But just got to keep staying confident. I think he wants to pick his teammates up, and there’s a little bit of trying too hard in those spots. At times, I think he’s trying to do too much. And then conversely, I think at times he’s a little too passive,” Roberts said.
Despite these challenges, Roberts has remained committed to keeping Conforto in the lineup, hoping that he can find his rhythm again.
Over the past 30 games, Conforto has managed just one home run and four RBIs, batting a disheartening .152 during that stretch.
While the Dodgers have injuries and inconsistencies throughout the roster, Conforto’s struggles stand out.
As the trade deadline approaches and the team aims for the playoffs, the front office might have some tough choices to make about Conforto and how they move forward.
