Oswaldo Cabrera’s injury left Yankees fans stunned after he went down in visible, excruciating pain. He was forced to leave the field in an ambulance and was later diagnosed with a severe fracture in his left ankle. The injury was gruesome enough to require immediate surgery.
The Yankees placed the slugger on the 10-day injured list, but he will need more time to recover. To make things worse, Cabrera also damaged his ligament while trying to score. Manager Aaron Boone shared a recent update on his return, and Yankees fans are not going to be happy.
In a postgame interview after the Yankees vs. Mets game, Boone was asked about Oswaldo Cabrera’s return.
“Yeah, I don’t, we still don’t know. I would say it’s probably unlikely, but we probably won’t know until, you know, a week, 10 days in — once we get the doctor’s protocols and then the ramp-up as we go. So, you know, I was a little more involved in there, but I think, all things considered, it was fairly successful too,” Aaron Boone said.

It’s probably unlikely for Cabby to get back in the game soon. The sad news is that he might take the entire season to recover. Given the severity of his injury, it’s better for Cabrera to take things slow.

The Bronx Bombers have the perfect solution to address their third base requirements. Veteran slugger D.J. LeMahieu is back in the game, but they have picked Oswald Peraza to fill in for Cabrera.
Peraza is already shining in pinstripes, and he’s showing some great defensive skills. During the Mets game, the slugger made a diving catch to prevent a base hit from Pete Alonso. Peraza seems to be the perfect defensive weapon until Oswaldo Cabrera’s return.

The Yanks are coming off a huge win against the Mets with a 6-2 final score. Carlos Rodon, Cody Bellinger, Aaron Judge, Paul Goldschmidt, and Luke Weaver had a great game. However, Yankees fans turned their backs on Juan Soto when he walked up to the plate.
