Jarren Duran has been involved in trade rumors for a while now, and several teams are already linked to the All-Star slugger. The Boston Red Sox are not having a perfect season. Their tough challenge in the AL East continues as they remain in fourth place.
Rumors are getting hot for Duran, and the San Diego Padres have emerged as the frontrunners in the race. Boston needs more firepower at both ends to help it compete in the AL East. A recent trade proposal by MLB insider Hector Gomez would send Jarren Duran to the Padres in a five-player blockbuster deal.
The proposal suggests that the Red Sox will get Xander Bogaerts for Duran along with another SS, Leodalis De Vries, Catcher Ethan Salas, LHP Kash Mayfield, and RHP Bradgley Rodriguez. While it seems a lot for one player, it turns out that Durran’s value is pretty high.
“Trade Proposal: The RedSox would send OF Jarren Duran and 3B Marcelo Mayer to the Padres. The Padres would send SS Xander Bogaerts, SS Leo De Vries, C Ethan Salas, LHP Kash Mayfield, and RHP Bradgley Rodriguez to the Red Sox,” Gomez wrote.

While the proposal involves five players, it’s hard to imagine Xander Bogaerts along with the deal. Despite Duran being a great player, it still seems a little over the board.

Duran made the All-Star game in 2024, but his 2025 start seems to be pretty slow. The slugger has only four home runs with a batting average of .274. He has a .323 OBP and a .746 OPS. Overall, Duran has 75 hits and 35 RBIs in 274 plate appearances.
Duran remains a strong player for the Red Sox. His defensive skills have been impressive, but Boston has not made any official announcement of wanting to trade Jarren Duran. They need more players who could contribute to the team’s defense. The Red Sox recently demoted Kristen Campbell, but the good news is that Alex Bregman has shown progress.
