Manny Machado is quietly building a Hall of Fame resume with one swing at a time. Now in his 14th MLB season, the San Diego Padres third baseman is delivering another standout year. Through early May 2025, Machado is batting .300 with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, and an OPS of .823 over 130 at-bats. His consistent offensive production continues to anchor the Padres’ lineup.
Machado’s career numbers are equally impressive. He has amassed 1,939 hits, 345 home runs, and 1,065 RBIs, maintaining a .279 batting average over 6,939 at-bats. Since joining the Padres in 2019, he’s become the franchise’s all-time leader in home runs, surpassing the previous record with his 164th homer in 2024.
Manny Machado On Pace to Make History

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi highlighted Machado’s trajectory, stating, “He’s going to pass George Brett. He’ll pass Mike Schmidt. He’ll pass Adrian Beltre. He’ll pass all the third basemen ever by that age.” Morosi emphasized that Machado is on pace to have the most hits by any third baseman through his age-32 season.

“He is now on pace to have the most hits by any third baseman ever through his age 32 season,” Morosi said about Machado.
“He’s about to pass, again, Mike Schmidt, the man that many of us consider the best pure power hitting third baseman ever, he’s about to pass him with four more and five more home runs. We’re talking about quite simply one of the best third basemen ever”, Morosi added.

But it’s not just about the numbers.
Machado has been the face of the Padres since arriving in 2019, helping turn the team from a playoff afterthought into a legitimate postseason threat. His leadership helped snap a 12-year playoff drought and brought a swagger back to San Diego baseball.
He’s not just putting up Hall of Fame stats, he is changing a franchise’s culture. With every milestone he hits, the Hall of Fame debate becomes less of a question and more of a when.
