Paul Skenes is having a great second year in the big leagues as he’s all set to have another strong run. The young pitcher was up against the New York Mets on Monday, where he pitched against some of the top sluggers. However, the challenge seemed like a cakewalk to Skenes.
The Pirates lost their game against the Mets, but Skenes was great on the mound. Opponent hitters swung out and missed even with the bases loaded. Skenes struck out Pete Alonso and Juan Soto with ease. After his game, fans reacted negatively on social media to Soto and the Mets.

Paul Skenes Surrenders Only One Earned Run Against The Mets

Skenes dominated the Mets after surrendering only one run in six innings pitched. He struck out six opponent hitters and walked three with six hits. The Mets’ powerful offense could not do much against the Pirates’ star.
The Mets were unable to score more than one run until the bottom of the seventh. Caleb Ferguson stepped up on the mound and surrendered the second run. The Mets eventually won the game with a 4-3 final score. Yet, they failed to score on several instances with Paul Skenes on the mound.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are ranked at No. 28 in the week 7 MLB power rankings. Skenes will continue to play a crucial role in his team.
