Juan Soto had himself a night at Citi Field, blasting two home runs. But it wasn’t the long balls that had social media buzzing. It was what happened in the dugout afterward.
In the Mets’ 4–2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Soto crushed his first two homers at Citi Field since signing his record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets this offseason. The blasts were a much-needed hit for a player who had started the season slowly, entering the game batting .241 at home.

However, during a post-home run celebration, teammate Starling Marte physically pulled Soto to pose for the cameras. Soto, who initially looked confused, offered a V Pose.

One fan claimed, “Soto clearly doesn’t understand the vibe of the Met organization. It’s different from all others. He’s learning & will eventually fit in. He need to learn not to take the game to seriously & enjoy all the moments. That’s what’s makes the Mets a fun team to watch.”

Despite the awkward moment, Soto’s performance was a positive sign. His two solo shots were the Mets’ only runs in the game.
Manager Carlos Mendoza expressed confidence in Soto, noting that his strong exit velocity indicated a return to form.
“It’s always good to see it,” Mendoza said. “We knew he was close.”
Juan Soto and the Mets will next be seen in action on Friday against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
