Everybody saw this tweet coming from a mile away.
Members of the San Francisco Giants, including manager Gabe Kapler, took a knee for the national anthem before Monday evening’s exhibition contest.
It was the first national anthem demonstration at an MLB game since Bruce Maxwell took a knee in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick in 2017.
President Trump reacted negatively as he took to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning.
“Looking forward to live sports, but any time I witness a player kneeling during the National Anthem, a sign of great disrespect for our Country and our Flag, the game is over for me!” he tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Major League Baseball is set to begin its 2020 regular season on Thursday night and many more players from several teams are expected to participate in the protests.
