The southpaw is coming off a strong performance, tossing six scoreless innings against the Reds. However, after throwing 88 pitches, he stated that the heat got to him and that he was unable to continue. It was around 100 degrees at the Great American Ball Park, and Carlos Rodon was pulled out of the game.
“I was huffing and puffing a little bit. Usually, I go back out there in those situations. I want the ball. But I could tell I was gassed. They had some good at-bats, some long at-bats. It was just one of those days where the energy was coming out of me quick,” Rodon said via MLB.

Yankees skipper Aaron Boone stated he was aware that Rodon was done due to the scorching heat. Boone took out the pitcher, and the Yankees lost the game.

While a few fans called out Rodon for his bold comment. Radio Host Keith McPherson took it to another level. McPherson bought into Rodon’s contract and called him out for blaming he conditions.

“Ok, then you need to be in better shape, buddy. You need to be better conditioned. You make $27 million to be a starting pitcher for the New York Yankees,” Keight McPherson said, calling out Carlos Rodon.
Keith says, if Carlos Rodon was indeed out of gas after 88 pitches, then he has to be ready to give the Yankees more.

Rodon is undoubtedly one of the best pitchers in the Bronx right now. He’s also one of the three pitchers to have an ERA below 3.00. Clarke Schmidt and Max Fried are the other two. Rodon holds a 2.92 ERA, and he’s helped the Yankees win multiple games.
His strong performance has made him a strong candidate for the playoffs as well. Carlos Rodon will play a vital role in the postseason, especially in the absence of the team’s injured pitchers. As for Yankees fans, they called out Aaron Boone for taking Rodon off the mound.
