The Mets are currently enduring one of the most frustrating stretches in the league. They entered a miserable seven-game losing streak and got swept by the Tampa Bay Rays and the Atlanta Braves.
The team dropped from the top spot after losing against the Philadelphia Phillies in their series opener. However, they broke their losing streak after winning Game 2 with an 11-4 final score. The team’s woes have not gone unnoticed, as many fans and insiders have opened up about their slump.
Well-known radio host Keith McPherson recently attacked the Mets and their recent slump. McPherson poked fun at the team for its poor performance.
“I’m a little disappointed in the team right now. They’re letting things happen to them. Yes, they’re not imposing their will. Juan Soto’s not shuffling and dominating. Pete Alonso went from MVP to like here kind of there. Lindor, right now this little pinky toe is a big problem. And year Jeremey Hefner’s pitching lab I don’t know they gotta go to Dexter’s lab or something. Figure out something else out,” McPherson said.’

Despite their decline, Soto and his team were not far behind the Phillies. They regained their top spot in the NL East with a 46-31 record. However, they are tied with the Phillies, and they must win their series to retain the top spot.
The Phillies will turn Jesus Luzardo to the mound, while the Mets will have David Peterson. Both teams are turning in left-handed pitchers for the series finale. It’s going to be a hard battle for both teams, but Peterson is expected to have the edge over Luzardo. MLB fans recently shared negative reactions to Juan Soto being on the top 10 list of outfielders.
