The Boston Red Sox face a major challenge in the heart of their lineup after Triston Casas’ season-ending injury. The team needs to address its first base issues with Casas sidelined due to a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee.
Casas suffered a terrible injury against the Minnesota Twins. The 25-year-old slugger was expected to be a key contributor this year. However, he had an awkward fall at first base and will not return for the rest of the season.

Rafael Devers was approached to take Casas’ position, but the designated hitter was unhappy with the team for tossing him around. It’s still unclear as to who the Red Sox are planning to place at first base. The team has explored with Romy Gonzalez and Abraham Toro, but neither player has been up to the mark.
Kristian Campbell was another option, but the franchise is considering external options. One of the leading candidates to replace Casas is from the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Rhys Hoskins Could Be The Perfect Fit For The Red Sox

The Brew-Crew is four games behind the .500 mark, and their chances of making the playoffs are seemingly low. While they have time to get back in the race, many believe they need to make a few alterations to the team.

Rhys Hoskins could be the perfect fit for Boston to take over Casas’ position. The Brewers might part ways if given the right contract for the slugger. Bob Nightengale reported that Hoskins’ looming free agency and the Brewers’ struggle could lure him to the Red Sox.
“Rhys Hoskins of the Milwaukee Brewers could be the perfect fit. Hoskins, a free agent after the season, will be available if the Brewers aren’t in the playoff hunt,” Nightengale wrote via USA Today.
Boston made significant changes to its team, and its biggest signing was Alex Bregman. Bringing in the former Astros star is paying off and has strengthened its playoff chances. If the Red Sox address their first base issue with Hoskins, they would be a strong contender for the AL East division. Sadly, Devers is not ready to play first base for his team.
