Police have charged a 21-year-old in relation to the near-fatal incident that took place at the Pittsburgh Pirates’ PNC Park late last month.
Kavan Markwood, 20, nearly fell to his death during a game against the Chicago Cubs on April 30, tumbling from the bleachers and dropping 21 feet to the pitch while celebrating. He sustained significant injuries and was lucky to escape with his life.
According to TMZ, Ethan Kirkwood has been charged with supplying him with alcohol. The outlet cites court records, which document that Kirkwood is facing two misdemeanor charges for giving Markwood alcohol shortly before his fall.
The complaint states that security cameras at the park initially caught Kirkwood buying two beers. Additional footage showed him and Markwood holding the beverages before he returned to purchase another two.
“Additional footage, according to the complaint, showed Kirkwood going back to the bar and returning with two more beers at least one more time before Markwood’s seventh-inning fall,” TMZ’s report notes.

Pennsylvania is known to take a hard stance against underage drinking, with authorities usually swift to impose fines, license suspensions, and other penalties for violations.
Markwood, meanwhile, sustained a broken neck, clavicle, and back from the fall. The injuries will likely affect him for the rest of his life, but he said he was “alright,” all things considered, in a recent interview.
