Roman Anthony’s sister has broken her silence after going viral and gaining over 15K Instagram followers in a matter of hours, having attended the outfielder’s MLB debut.
The Boston Red Sox rookie played his first game this week during a series against the Tampa Bay Rays and immediately impressed. Anthony got an RBI in Game 1 and added a two-run double in the following game.
His mom, dad, brother, and sister were all in attendance and got to see him shine, going viral in the process.
“That group out there has been with me every step of the way,” he said after the performance. “Just to see them here… it was special, for sure.”

Roman’s sister Lia grabbed most of the attention, and her Instagram following surpassed the 15K mark overnight. She’s since discussed the massive change, revealing she had around 3,000 followers before going to the game.
“It’s been surreal,” she said on the ‘Greg Hill Show.’ “I went from having 3,000, and now I’m at 14,000. We were all just shocked by it.”
Lia had 20.9K followers at the time of writing.
She noted that she and her family were surprised by the reactions across social media and the number of followers she’s attracted, pointing out that she was only out there to support her brother and had no idea it would turn into this.
Based on the pace she’s being followed, she could hit the 50K mark by next weekend. Lia is already a huge hit with Red Sox fans, who quickly learned her name and no longer view her as just “Roman Anthony’s sister.”
