Ronald Acuna Jr. is the Atlanta Braves’ superstar slugger, and it comes as a shock to many to see him involved in trade rumors. The MLB trade deadline is approaching quickly. A number of teams are ready to leap to strengthen their playoff chances. Yet, it seems hard to believe that the Braves would even consider trading their best slugger.
At present, Atlanta is still fighting for a possible Wild Card position. Despite Acuna getting back on the squad, they have plenty of room for improvement. Due to their poor performance, several insiders including Joel Sherman suggests that the Braves should trade Ronald Acuna Jr.
“Can you see a championship in the next few years? I don’t, because Albies has gone the wrong way, Harris has gone the wrong way. We played the last four months of last season without Acuna and made the playoffs again,” Sherman said.
“Do we want to try to take another seven-year run? I would say let’s have a serious meeting about whether it’s time to do that. Acuna, in this marketplace, without offensive players of this stature, you could make the Juan Soto trade. Who can I make the Juan Soto trade with?” Sherman continued.

While it seems out of reach at this moment, it’s still possible with Ronald Acuna’s friendly contract. The slugger is earning just $ 17 million per season, and he has three and a half years left.

The Braves have been a playoff-eligible team for seven straight years. Sadly, 2025 seems to be one of those disastrous seasons. If the Braves trade Acuna, they will lose a lot. They will not have the chance to bring in a superstar like Acuna in the near future.
On the other hand, they might be able to get huge value for the Acuna and bring in several stars. It’s a long shot, and such rumors seem way out of hand right now. The Braves are ranked at No. 23 in their week 13 MLB power rankings. For now, Ronald Acuna is going to remain on the team.
