Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a loss to the Angels. While the Dodgers have been inconsistent at times, they still sit atop the NL West. Ohtani, meanwhile, continues to shine, hitting his 16th home run of the season to surpass Yankees captain Aaron Judge.
The Dodgers star is leading the league in home runs, but all his hard work has gone in vain. Ohtani’s former team held the upper hand as their offense opened up and scored six runs. The Boys in Blue were restricted to only two runs. Ohtani smashed a solo home run, while Max Muncy recorded an RBI double.

Ohtani is now ahead of Judge and Kyle Schwarber in home runs. Dustin May was a bit shaky on the mound after surrendering a two-run bomb to Yoan Moncada. May suffered the loss after surrendering four earned runs in five innings pitched. The pitcher recorded eight strikeouts in his loss. The Dodgers hope to rebound in their second game of the Freeway Series.
Shohei Ohtani Looks To Another 50-50 Season

It’s possible for Ohtani to beat his previous milestone, given the pace he’s going at. The slugger has 10 stolen bases with 16 bombs in mid-May. Ohtani can easily cross the 50-50 mark this season.
In 171 at-bats, Ohtani has a .316 batting average with a .416 OBP and a 1.016 OPS. He has 29 RBIs and 54 hits. However, his stats are way lower than Aaron Judge, who leads the league. The two-way star can easily win the NL MVP in 2025.

Dave Roberts and the Dodgers are holding onto Shohei Ohtani’s pitching for now and many anticipate the star to take the mound in the playoffs. The Dodgers are holding a 29-16 record and are ranked second in the MLB behind the Tigers.
In their week 7 MLB power rankings, they have secured the top spot and are still huge favorites to win the World Series. Ohtani continues to play a crucial role for the team and hopes to turn things around in Game 2.
