Shohei Ohtani is just an incredible athlete.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ two-way player threw the single hardest pitch of his MLB career against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday, a 101.7 mph fastball.
Ohtani had previously thrown even harder than that against Italy in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, reaching 102 mph.
This particular pitch is much more impressive given that he has undergone two Tommy John surgeries. The first was in 2018 while playing for the Los Angeles Angels, and the second, a revision surgery with an internal brace, was in September 2023, also with the Angels.
Ohtani also had a third elbow surgery, which finally healed enough for him to start pitching again in 2025. He has not missed a beat.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are constantly impressed by Shohei Ohtani, but after throwing his fastest pitch ever recorded in MLB, some think it should be investigated.
On Instagram, a user posted a video that called for Major League Baseball to look into him possibly using illegal substances.
