Tanner Scott was supposed to be a key piece in the Dodgers’ bullpen this year. But instead, his fastball and his confidence seemed to be unraveling at the worst possible time.
In Monday night’s 4-3 loss to the Mets, Scott gave up two crucial runs in the 10th inning, handing Los Angeles its second straight defeat. His ERA now sits at a troubling 4.73 through 28 appearances, a far cry from the dominant lefty L.A. expected when they signed him to a four-year, $72 million deal this past offseason.
Scott didn’t shy away from responsibility after the game. I’m missing locations. I’m just not hitting my spots, and it’s costing us.”

When asked on his fastball, Tanner said, “It’s getting hit a lot. Last year I relied on it a lot, and this year it’s getting hit a lot.”
While the velocity on Scott’s fastball remains solid, it’s the lack of command that’s doing the damage. “I’m supposed to be in different spots,” Scott said. “Especially down in the zone to hitters.”
Notably, over his last seven outings, the left-hander has allowed 10 earned runs in just six innings – two losses and two blown saves included. It’s been a brutal stretch, and the team doesn’t have many backup options with several Dodgers relievers out due to injury.

Dodgers Drop Extra-Inning Battle To Mets

The Mets struck early with a leadoff homer from Francisco Lindor and later added a second run in the fifth. The Dodgers responded behind Shohei Ohtani, who blasted a solo homer in the seventh and tied the game with a sac fly in the ninth.
But on the 10th, Scott faltered. He allowed RBI hits to Francisco Alvarez and Lindor, putting the Mets up 4-2. The Dodgers managed a run in the bottom frame, but the comeback fell short.
