A random pickleball player had Keith Hernandez all kinds of distracted while he was calling the New York Mets’ spring opener against the Houston Astros on Saturday.
While Juan Soto was the new player on show for the Mets and gave fans a cool highlight, smashing a home run in his first at-bat since joining the team as a free agent, there was also a memorable moment that had nothing to do with baseball.
With the game underway, the SNY camera cut to a nearby pickleball game between a shirtless man and a woman who was almost shirtless herself.
Hernandez would admit to being “distracted.”

Hernandez often toes the line with his commentary, so this is just the sort of thing one would expect from him. But, even if he wasn’t the type of commentator to push boundaries, he might have still confessed to being a bit off-kilter after seeing what he saw.
Meanwhile, the game was a positive one for the Mets and their fans as Soto lived up to the hype in his first outing since signing a record-breaking contract with the team.
“It’s very cool to see them enjoying the moment and enjoying this time,” the 26-year-old said after the game. “First year with the Mets, it’s going to be unforgettable.”
