
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Hunter Bigge was carted off during Thursday night’s home game against the Baltimore Orioles after being hit in the face by a 105 MPH foul ball in the dugout.
Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was at the plate against Tampa pitcher Connor Seabold in the top half of the seventh inning, when he hit a hard foul ball — clocked at 105 MPH — into the Rays’ dugout.
The hard-hit ball struck Bigge right in the face. A fan sitting to the left of home plate caught the scene in a terrifying video:

Officials quickly tended to Bigge and took him away on a cart. Thankfully, Bigge was conscious, alert and managed to give the fans a “thumbs up” as he was being driven off the field:

He was stretchered off the field and gave a thumbs up as he exited.

Hunter Bigge Is In His Second MLB Season

Bigge got into the majors last year, debuting for the Chicago Cubs after a patient climb to the pros. He was later traded to the Rays as part of the blockbuster deal for Isaac Parades, pitching to a 2.57 ERA in 15 games.
Hunter Bigge has pitched 15 innings in 13 game appearances this year, with 12 strikeouts and a superb 2.40 ERA.
