The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a great start this season, but it’s been a rough day for Roki Sasaki. The Japanese star was among the most awaited pitchers to debut in the big leagues. Sasaki had an intense spring training and did a decent job against the Chicago Cubs in Japan.
Yet, he was unable to last for long in both games. The young star debuted against the Detroit Tigers, but he faced disappointment after struggling to make ends meet. The Tigers played well against the young pitcher as they recorded three hits. Sasaki surrendered two earned runs and walked four opponent hitters in just 1.2 innings pitched.
The Dodgers were forced to bring him off the mound before the Tigers took control of the game. Some fans were not pleased with his performance, but many know that the first start is always rough. Roki Sasaki is probably going through the same. Last year, Yoshinobu Yamamoto was rocked in his Dodgers debut, but he turned out to be one of the best pitchers in the game.

Likewise, Sasaki could have a strong comeback. Yet, the first outing is something that is remembered, and the Japanese pitcher did not take it well. A video of the pitcher surfaced online where he was seen fighting back his tears. It’s hard to see players exhibit their emotions. The good news is that Roki Saski has an entire season to prove his worth.

Dodgers fans are confident that their future star will come back stronger. Japanese baseballs are slightly smaller than the ones used in the MLB. It could take a while for Sasaki to adjust. Moreover, pitching in Dodger Stadium with high-energetic fans could also add pressure.
