The Los Angeles Dodgers gave all the reasons for Shohei Ohtani to doze a little. And boy, how well did he cash that in.
During the Dodgers’ heavy 18-2 victory over the New York Yankees, what cameras caught the young pitcher doing was rather interesting.
While a lot of action was going on in the field, Ohtani was seen taking a quick nap in the dugout.
Although, a little rest time is justifiable when your team is making a great comeback in the game. The Dodgers quickly took control of the game and scored 10 runs in the first two innings, which marked the beginning of their celebration at Dodger Stadium.

This moment could be linked to the fact that Ohtani and his wife welcomed their first child on April 19. And it’s safe to say that he might be short on sleep, a common challenge for new parents.
Despite the lopsided victory, Ohtani’s personal contributions to the game were minimal, with only two hits and two runs. The win was a result of a strong team effort rather than Ohtani’s usual standout play.

Shohei Ohtani Had A Wonderful Weekend Blast

Shohei Ohtani is making exciting strides in his return to pitching. On Saturday, just hours before the Dodgers faced off against the Yankees, Ohtani threw another bullpen session at Dodger Stadium.
This was a big deal since it marked his first time throwing from that mound since he joined the team before the 2024 season.

He tossed 29 pitches across two simulated innings, facing off against players from the Dodgers’ Single-A Rancho Cucamonga team. Manager Dave Roberts shared that Ohtani felt great afterward, which is definitely encouraging news for fans eager to see him back on the mound.
It’s been a long journey for Ohtani, who hasn’t pitched in a regular season game since August 23, 2023. An elbow surgery kept him out for the entire 2024 season.
Despite that setback, he’s been contributing with his bat, and just the night before, he wowed fans by hitting two home runs against the Yankees.
