
Ketel Marte is one of the most respected players in the MLB. The Arizona Diamondbacks star has an excellent reputation and is undeniably one of the best second basemen. Marte is a fan favorite and a top slugger on the team.
The Diamondbacks have always given preference to the slugger. He helped carry the team to the 2023 World Series and he continue to play a vital role, both offensively and defensively. Even such a great player like Marte has been a target for insults and criticism.
During their game against the Chicago White Sox, Ketel Marte broke down in tears after a ruthless fan hurled insults at his mother. Marte’s mother had passed away in an accident back in 2017. It’s unclear what the fan yelled at Marte, but it was certainly offensive.

MLB officials immediately ejected the fan who yelled at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. However, Marte was visibly upset.

Arizona Diamondbacks Manager Torey Lovullo Offers His Support To Ketel Marte

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was one among many to support Marte. Lovullo witnessed the incident and he ran out to his player who was seen in tears.
“I looked right at him when I heard. I looked right at him, and he looked at the person, as well. He put his head down, and I could tell it had an immediate impact on him, for sure,” Torey Lovullo said via AZ Central.
The D’backs shortstop Geraldo Perdomo opened up on the incident.
“Everybody knows how Ketel is. He’s fun. He plays the game hard. I feel bad for him, and I feel mad about it. I hope MLB can do something with that guy. Don’t know who it was, but they’ve got to do something. We can’t continue to do that (expletive) here in MLB,” Perdomo said.
The entire MLB fanbase, along with several insiders and other players, has poured in their support for Ketel Marte. The Diamondbacks are ranked No. 15 in the week 13 MLB power rankings.
