The young Miami Marlins squad hoped to showcase their promise in their matchup against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Instead, it became a night of heartbreak for the team’s second baseman, Ronny Simon.
Simon’s defensive struggles were pretty evident. He contributed to a defeat, committed four errors, and tied the franchise’s record in a single game. Simon joined Gary Sheffield, Jacob Turner, and Nick Fortes. It was a disastrous day for the young slugger, and he hopes to put it behind him.
Ronny Simon’s troubles began early and snowballed quickly. In just three innings, Simon committed three errors. Each of his errors was costly, as the Padres took advantage of the situation to come back stronger.
The Miami Marlins slugger could no longer contain his emotions. Cameras captured the infielder breaking down in tears on the field. Here’s a look at the video of Ronny Simon breaking down in tears.

It’s common for players to commit errors, but things got out of hand for Ronny Simon after he allowed more than a couple. Miami is at the bottom of the NL East with a bad 21-32 record. Their chances of making the playoffs without top stars on their team are pretty slim. It’s going to be a long 2025 MLB season, as the Miami Marlins are considered a bottom-five team.
The franchise is ranked No. 26 in the week 9 MLB power rankings. The Marlins are riding a two-game losing streak and will face the San Francisco Giants in their next series.
