The New York Mets might be at the top of the NL West, but several issues surround the team. Juan Soto’s addition to the team and his initial struggles have not gone well. Soto added fuel to the fire with his comment on Aaron Judge being the best hitter in baseball. Several fans were unhappy with his take.
On the other hand, Pete Alonso is doing a fantastic job supporting Soto. Many feel that Soto’s take on Judge was unnecessary and threw shade on Alonso. WFAN host Sal Licata has been active in such conversations. Licata criticized Juan Soto for his slow start, and several fans felt he was overreacting.
The WFAN host called out Mets fans for their reaction, saying it’s all about Soto. Licata feels that Pete Alonso is being ignored despite his stellar performance.
“It can’t be Pete Alonso’s an MVP, but with Soto it’s only 20 games. Which one is it? Why can’t the same Met fans who say that we are ridiculous for criticizing Soto for 20 games so far. Put Pete Alonso in the MVP conversation after just 20 games,” Licata said.

The WFAN host further compared the Yankees’ Ben Rice and Paul Goldschmidt. Licata had no fear in saying that Alonso has been great, but he’s not getting the right recognition from Mets fans.
