Dodgers star Max Muncy is not easygoing if someone yells at him. Muncy will speak his mind and never hesitate to fire back if someone gives him trash talk. The All-Star had an unforgettable incident with Madison Bumgarner in Oracle Park.
Back in 2019, Muncy smashed a solo shot against Bumgarner during the Giants vs Dodgers game. Muncy’s shot went all the way out of the stadium into the ocean. While the Dodgers star trotted the bases, he was admiring his ball fly out of the park.
Bumgarner was offended and told Muncy not to watch the ball. Muncy lashed back at him saying go get the ball out of the ocean.
“Don’t watch the ball, run,” Bumgarner said.
“Oh ok, I just hit your pitch into the ocean. Go get it and then come talk to me,” Max Muncy said via MLB.com.

The Dodgers and Giants have a history of rivalry. Muncy and Bumgarner had a heated moment. Luckily, the umpire stepped in and stopped things from escalating further. Madison Bumgarner was unable to make it to the 2025 season, and he still remains a free agent.

Max Muncy Looks To Rebound From A Struggling Start

2025 has not been too kind to Muncy, as he’s been struggling to make ends meet. Surprisingly, Muncy is one of the worst offensive players in the lineup. The All-Star has only eight hits and two RBIs in 46 at-bats. He drove in two runs for the team and is slashing 174/ .224/.485.
Muncy switched to the Torpedo bat for a couple of games, but he felt that it was not good for him. The slugger ditched the Torpedo bat and began using the usual bats. Muncy has to rebound soon since the competition on the Dodgers squad is pretty tough.
It was not long ago that Max Muncy thought of retiring. Injuries have given him a slight setback, and things have been drifting away. Muncy had limited appearances in 2024 but smashed 15 home runs in 237 at-bats.
The Dodgers have struggled in the last couple of games, and experts are predicting that the Padres will win the NL West.
