Giancarlo Stanton is on the verge of making his long-awaited 2025 season debut. After missing the start of the season with tendinitis in his elbows, the All-Star began his minor league rehab assignment with the Double-A Somerset Patriots.
The Yanks are eagerly awaiting “Big G” to get back on their roster. Despite their decent offense, the burden seems to be on Aaron Judge. Their latest acquisitions, like Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt, have been doing a fine job, but Stanton’s big bat is what the Yankees need right now.
How Long Will Giancarlo Stanton’s Rehab Last?

According to the MLB rules, position players’ rehab assignments are capped at 20 days, but Stanton can be activated at any point within that window. That said, the Yankees’ designated hitter will return to the lineup before the end of June.

Stanton has been hitting off a high-velocity machine for a long time. Now that he’s facing pitchers, his chances of returning to the team can be sooner than expected. If everything goes smoothly with the Double-A Somerset Patriots, the slugger can be back in the game by next week.

Bringing Stanton back into the lineup will require some creativity from manager Aaron Boone. The Yankees have been rotating several players, including Cody Bellinger, Jasson Domínguez, Paul Goldschmidt, Trent Grisham, and Ben Rice.
Giancarlo Stanton will return strictly as a DH, with no plans for him to play the field. The Yanks have their outfield filled with players, and Stanton will not play the field. Initially, the Yanks might give him limited opportunities at the plate.
Ben Rice has been doing a fine job in the absence of Giancarlo Stanton. Rice has a dozen home runs and is slashing .241 at the plate. When Stanton returns, Rice might have limited playing time with the team.
It’s left up to Aaron Boone and how he plans on managing things with the Yanks. Fans are happy to know about Stanton’s return. The Yanks will strengthen their offense and hope to climb up from their fourth spot in the MLB power rankings.
