The Boston Red Sox have been dealt another injury blow, placing right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder bursitis.
According to manager Alex Cora, the injury isn’t a major concern. He is hopeful Buehler will only miss two starts, which could have him back on the mound sometime around mid-May. Still, it’s a tough loss.
Before his injury, Buehler, who joined the Red Sox from Dodgers, had been a steady hand in the rotation, going 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA across six starts.
The #RedSox today placed right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler on the 15-Day Injured List (retroactive to April 29) with right shoulder bursitis. To fill his spot, the club recalled right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins from Triple-A Worcester.

Casas had to be stretchered off the field and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The team is still awaiting complete medical reports, but the injury appeared serious. Casas had been heating up at the plate, and his absence left another major hole in the Red Sox lineup.
Despite the injuries, Boston secured a 6-1 win over the Twins on Friday night. Rafael Devers contributed to the victory with his clutch two-run single. The Red Sox currently sit at 18-16, second in the AL East, trailing only the New York Yankees.
