For years, Barry Bonds has lingered in baseball’s gray area. Worshipped for his towering home runs, yet sidelined in Hall of Fame voting due to lingering steroid allegations. Now, the San Francisco Giants are planning to settle the debate in their own backyard.
The team is reportedly planning to erect a statue in Bonds’ honor outside Oracle Park, and while the franchise is celebrating its most iconic slugger, not all fans are cheering. In fact, many have taken to social media to mock Barry Bonds.

Barry Bonds: A Legend On Paper, A Controversy Off It

Bonds retired as MLB’s all-time home run king, smashing 762 career home runs, including a record-setting 73 in the 2001 season. He was a 14-time All-Star and won the National League MVP award seven times, more than any other player in history. Statistically, his resume is nearly untouchable. But Barry Bonds’ alleged connection to performance-enhancing drugs has kept him out of the Hall of Fame and made him one of the sport’s most controversial figures.
Now, as the Giants move to honor him with a permanent statue, that polarizing legacy is once again front and center. Despite his pitfalls, Bonds is still one of the best hitters and is compared with present baseball stars.
