The New York Yankees had one of the worst World Series runs in 2024, and many players and fans have yet to get over their loss. To make things worse, a few Dodgers players trolled the team for their mistakes during Game 5.
Fans in the Bronx were equally upset with the team’s performance. However, they hope to have a great season after bolstering their offense. The Yanks traded a few players and acquired top stars in return. One notable pitcher who parted ways with the team was Nestor Cortes Jr.
Cortes is now a Brewer, but the pitcher recently took to social media to say the Yankees were better than the Dodgers. Despite their World Series loss, Cortes made a bold statement after his departure.
“We were the better team. I see it that way, and I’m sure everybody in that clubhouse sees it that way,” Cortes said.

Yankees Look To A Better Season After Cortes’ Replacement
The Yanks have a better pitching squad as they enter the 2025 season. One huge addition to the team is Max Fried. The Yanks have replaced Cortes with a stronger pitcher. Cortes had a decent run for the team, but his performance in the last two years had declined.
Parting ways with Cortes was one of the wisest decisions the team made. They also acquired Devin Williams and are now considered to have one of the best pitching rotations. The Yanks are favored to reach the World Series again, but they still have a tough competition ahead.
The Yanks will open their first regular season game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Former Yankees pitcher Domingo German is still trying to find a team for the 2025 season.
