After Gerrit Cole’s injury, the New York Yankees are in a bad situation. The Yanks will need to play the entire season without their ace. The World Series dream is falling apart even before they can start the season. Injury has caused panic among fans, and their pitching rotation has been hit the most.
Luis Gil and Cole’s absence will cost the team. To make matters worse, Brain Cashman is not going to pursue other options. The Yanks must bring in another pitcher, but Cashman says, “Luxury tax penalties make it “less likely” they will add from outside.” MLB insider Bryan Hoch took to social media to share the news.
Brian Cashman said “very little is available” in the pitching marketplace at this time of year. Said the Yankees will “rely on what we have” while exploring outside opportunities. Luxury tax penalties make it “less likely” they will add from outside, he said.

Yankees Suffer A Huge Loss Against The Pirates And Paul Skenes

The Yanks recorded a tough loss against the Pittsburgh Pirates in their last spring training game. The offense scored only one against Paul Skenes and his squad. Defensively, they surrendered nine runs.
Skenes recorded five Ks in four innings. He gave up only one earned run and gave up four hits. The Bronx Bombers have lost two of their top pitchers and will turn to Max Fried for support. Carlos Rodon, Marcus Stroman, and Clarke Schmidt will carry the weight for the team.
The Yanks still have a few free agents to consider for the upcoming season. However, it seems like they will stay out of signing pitchers.
