The Arizona Diamondbacks are open to hearing trade proposals for their power hitter, and the New York Yankees seem to make just the right case.
According to MLB analyst Derek Levandowski, the Yankees are heavily linked to the Diamondbacks’ Eugenio Suarez.
After facing a tough injury blow with Oswaldo Cabrera likely out for the season, the Yankees need some serious offensive firepower at third base. Suarez, currently hitting .221 with 14 home runs this season, could be just the spark they need.
With a salary of $15 million, he presents an appealing option for a team looking to bolster its batting lineup.
Speaking on Pinstripe Territory, Levandowski shared some candid thoughts about Suarez’s strengths and weaknesses.
“One more guy that we’re seeing thrown around a little bit is Eugenio Suarez, who hit four home runs in a game earlier this year. I’m not sure if you saw that it was insane. He is not a good fielder. He is not a good base runner. But what the man can do is destroy baseballs. He’s got 14 home runs this year, hitting .221,” he said.

Additionally, as Derek hinted, the Diamondbacks are willing to listen to trade offers around him.
“Word around the campfire is that the Diamondbacks are willing to listen on him. They have some prospects that can fill in, and they are certainly willing to listen. And they want to get better on defense as well,” he added.
Sure, he can absolutely crush the ball, there’s no denying his power, especially after hitting four home runs in a single game earlier this season. Interestingly, it is a feat that only 18 other players in MLB history have accomplished.
MLB Analyst Hints Caution On Yankees Pursuing Eugenio Suarez

While the Yankees sound like a team waiting for its missing piece to fill in, the trade would not be even from all corners.
Levandowski also pointed out that Suarez isn’t exactly a defensive wizard or a speedy base runner. Still, his power hitting could make him a valuable asset for the Yankees as they strive for more consistency at the plate.

With the Diamondbacks reportedly open to trade discussions, this could be a win-win situation. For the Yankees, bringing in Suarez could revitalize their offense and give fans something to cheer for as they aim for a playoff run.
And as the trade deadline nears, seeing Suarez in pinstripes sounds exciting. It’s definitely a possibility that Yankees fans will be watching closely.
