Jon Jones is now getting advice from fellow UFC stars regarding his fight. It is no secret that Jones has declined to fight against Tom Aspinall. While Jones has given his justification, the future of the heavyweight division hangs in balance. With two separate champions (interim and undisputed), the unification of the same is urgently required. Meanwhile, speaking about the situation, Alexander Volkanovski feels that Jones must accept the fight.
Alexander Volkanovski recently appeared in an episode of ‘Over Dogs Podcast.’ Reflecting on the Jon Jones situation, Volaknovski stated that it was Jones’ responsibility to defend his title. ‘Volk’ also pointed out that any champion needs to be active in order to justify his reign. And in case of an interim champion waiting, the responsibility is even more.
“If you’re the champ, you defend your belt — it’s a responsibility. You need to be reasonably active. If you’ve got an interim champ, that’s a no-brainer. Don’t hold up the division. I know your résumé is incredible, you’re considered the GOAT. So if you don’t want to fight, just retire,” said Volkanovski.

Now, these are some pretty harsh words coming from Volkanovski. And not only the UFC stars, but Jones seems to have hit the nerve of several fans too. That is why a petition to strip Jones off the title has gained traction online. So much so, that Dana White too, reacted to the same.
Dana White Reacts To Jon Jones Petition

UFC fans seem to have had enough. With Jones keeping Aspinall on the sidelines for almost a year, the fans desperately want some action. And if not, they want Jones to be stripped off his championship. Recently, an online petition has become viral with tons of people signing on the same. In a recent presser, Dana White was being asked about the same. Although the UFC head honcho admitted to having the knowledge, he called the petition ‘silly.’

“Every human on earth DMing it to me, yeah I saw it. How many fans there are worldwide, now what’s the number? It’s like 400 million or something like that. 130,000 people want to see him stripped. It’s kinda fu*king silly,” said White.
Thus, with a lot of complications going around, it now remains to be seen what happens next.
