Alexander Volkanovski is already looking past Diego Lopes! In Volkanovski’s return to the octagon, the Australian fighter looks as confident as ever. After losing to Ilia Topuria via knockout, ‘Volk’ decided to give himself some time to recover. However, now that he looks fit, he will be trying to reclaim his featherweight glory. But standing in his way is Diego Lopes. His lethal striking has made quite the ripples in the UFC realm.
While the matchup is being touted as a hard one for Volkanovski, the former champion seems determined. In a recent interaction with Ariel Helwanu, Volkanovski not only claimed to win against Lopes but also laid down his future plans.
“I’m gonna go there, I’m winning the belt and I’ll call [Movsar] out… I’m winning that title and I’ll fight him 3 months later,” said Volkanovski.

Now, that seems like quite a bold statement from the Australian fighter. Despite being a former king, Lopes does have a significant striking that might cause problems for ‘Volk.’ But this was not the only time that Volkanovski came up with a bold response against Diego Lopes.
Alexander Volkanovski Seems Confident About Defeating Diego Lopes
A few days back, Dana White announced that Ilia Topuria had vacated his featherweight belt. This paved the way for Alexander Volkanovski to have a go at the title against the likes of Diego Lopes. However, looking at Volkanovski’s reactions, it looks as if he is too comfortable going into the fight.
“Happy you’re getting the opportunity to fight for the belt, but I’m still here. You ain’t having it. Sorry mate,” said Volkanovski reacting to the matchup.
