Few rivalries in MMA are as intense as Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. Both legends, dominant and iconic, have never seen eye to eye. With Jon Jones out of action and avoiding a fight with interim champ Tom Aspinall, Cormier has now called on Dana White and the UFC to strip Jones of the heavyweight title. DC believes the division needs to move forward, and Aspinall deserves a shot at the undisputed crown without further delays. DC thinks the UFC should strip Jon Jones of the heavyweight title, citing his inactivity and reluctance to fight Aspinall.
Cormier argues that ‘Bones’ shows no apparent intention of returning soon, and the division shouldn’t be held up. He suggests the UFC move forward without Jones and let him earn his way back if he regains the desire to compete. According to Cormier, Aspinall deserves clarity, and the belt needs to be active in the division.
“It’s time to strip him. He doesn’t want to fight Tom. It does not sound like he’s going to fight. It’s time to take the belt and move on and hope that the itch that he talks about comes back, and if it does, stick him there with Tom Aspinall and give him no other choice,” he said.

Dana White Claims UFC Will Decide Jon Jones’ Future Soon If Aspinall Fight Falls Through

UFC President addressed the situation, saying the double champ has never avoided a fight and past cancellations weren’t his fault. He mentioned the Chael Sonnen incident was due to a coach’s call, not Jones. As for the current delay with Tom Aspinall, White said the UFC will decide soon. If the fight can’t be made, they won’t wait around. Fans can expect clarity in the coming weeks as the promotion plans its next move.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Dana White finally takes action, as the heavyweight division remains stalled for far too long. Jon Jones, the reigning champ, has taken considerable time without stepping back into the octagon, leaving interim champion Aspinall in limbo. The UFC may soon have to decide whether to keep waiting for ‘Bones’ or let the division move forward with Aspinall at the forefront.
