Belal Muhammad and Khamzat Chimaev have been feuding for the past few weeks. In a recent appearance on the Submission Radio podcast, Muhammad called out Chimaev. The UFC welterweight champion also stated that he had called Chimaev out before his move to the middleweight division. However, Chimaev didn’t sit back quietly either. He immediately hit back at Muhammad, calling him a “pony.”
Now, shedding further light on the incident, Muhammad clarified his intentions. In an interview on ‘The Brian Campbell Experience,’ Muhammad explained that he did not have a personal vendetta against Chimaev. He wanted to fight ‘Borz’ just because Chimaev was one of the best in the business.
“I want all the smoke. I want to fight the best guys in the world. When he was at 170, I was asking for him — I wanted to fight him, and it wasn’t personal. It was like, I want to challenge myself,” said Muhammad.
