The middleweight title scenario is standing at a pretty interesting juncture. Dricus Du Plessis, being the champion, is getting ready for his next opponent. Now, although nothing has been confirmed yet, it can be safe to assume that Khamzat Chimaev will be one standing in line. After recording a couple of victories, DDP is surely riding high on confidence. However, with Chimaev’s daunting stature looming large, Du Plessis might as well fine-tune his arsenal.
For starters, Chimaev’s biggest strength is his grappling. Having a sturdy and big build, the amount of speed Chimaev is able to generate is just out of the world. Take for example his bout against Robert Whittaker.
Whittaker, by no means, was a bad fighter. But the manner in which Chimaev swooped in on him proved to be too much. Add to that the swift submission attempts from the Chechen native. After all, it did break Whittaker’s jaw, causing him to panic tap.
People ask why Whittaker tapped so fast against Chimaev🤨

But Chimaev is not only wrestling. He also has a great striking and his upper cuts can be deadly. Thus, squaring off against ‘Borz’, Du Plessis would be wary of his prowess. However, speaking about the champion, DDP too, has been a dominant force.
Touted as an unorthodox fighter, Du Plessis has a strong build as well. Most of his power lies in his incredibly aggressive striking game. Du Plessis’s body strikes and punches can shut the lights out of even the best of the best. But again, DDP is not limited to striking. His submission is world-class, which was evident during his match against Israel Adesanya.

Thus, with both fighters looking solid, the resultant matchup will surely be a banger. Meanwhile, as the fight announcement is still some time to go, Chimaev has already taken shots at the UFC middleweight champion.
Khamzat Chimaev Wants To Finish Off Dricus Du Plessis In Spartan Style

Even before the official announcement, the battle lines seemed to have been drawn. Coming for the title, Khamzat Chimaev recently shared a poster foreshadowing what is to come next. Giving the due flowers to DDP, Chimaev hailed the champion as a warrior. But despite the respect, the poster portrayed Du Plessis as a fallen warrior.

The poster depicted Chimaev as a Spartan. With Du Plessis kneeling before Chimaev with his head hung low, ‘Borz’ could be seen giving out a war cry. And that was not before the UFC middleweight title was firmly placed on his shoulders. Surely, the heat is rising with each passing day. It now remains to be seen how things pan out in the near future.
