Fans have the power to build up hype around a fight or tear it down. UFC President Dana White has acknowledged that he pays attention to what fans say. Still, those calling for the Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall superfight are growing increasingly frustrated by the delay. The frustration has escalated to the point where fans even launched a petition to strip Jones of his title. White recently addressed the situation, saying he’s seen the petition.
Fans have also witnessed the ongoing online trash talk between the heavyweight champions, with ‘Bones’ mocking Aspinall. At the recent UFC 316 press conference, a reporter brought up the petition to strip Jon Jones of his title and asked Dana White if he had seen it. White responded by saying:
“Every human on earth DMing it to me, yeah I saw it. How many fans there are worldwide, now what’s the number? It’s like 400 million or something like that. 130,000 people want to see him stripped. It’s kinda fu*king silly.”
At the press conference, UFC President Dana White also revealed that they had offered Jones a contract to fight Tom Aspinall, and Jones accepted it. White reassured fans once again, asking them to be patient and wait a little longer for the official announcement.

Jones is catching heat from fans for delaying his long-awaited clash with Tom Aspinall. While Aspinall has held the interim title for over 600 days, Jones has stayed mostly silent about the fight. Firing back on Twitter, Jones wrote:

Despite the drama, Jones still hasn’t confirmed when he’ll defend his title. However, at the recent UFC 316 press conference, Dana White dropped major hints that the fight is in the works. Now, fans just have to sit tight and wait for the official announcement.
