UFC’s greatest heavyweight, Jon Jones, is being trolled by fans for not fighting Tom Aspinall. Social media is buzzing with posts accusing Jones of ducking Aspinall, with many believing he will avoid the fight and retire instead. Meanwhile, UFC President Dana White has shared a major update on Jones vs. Aspinall, a highly anticipated fight that is shaping up to be the biggest of the year.
‘Bones’ last fought at UFC 309, where he knocked out Stipe Miocic to defend his heavyweight title. And his next opponent is going to be Aspinall, as he’s the interim champion. Meanwhile White has confirmed that Jones vs. Aspinall is in the works and will happen—it’s just a matter of finalizing the details and signing the contracts. Speaking to TNT Sports White said,
“The fight is going to happen. It’s just a matter of when now, getting it signed and done. The fight will happen. It’s going to happen. It’s done but it’s not done. Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date. But the fight is going to happen.”

Aspinall, frustrated with the delay, has publicly called out Jones, saying he must either fight or retire—implying that retiring would be a way of avoiding him.
Anthony Smith Picks Jon Jones Over Islam Makhachev In P4P Debate

The pound-for-pound (P4P) debate in 2025 remains heated. Despite Dana White naming Islam Makhachev the top P4P fighter at UFC 311, Anthony Smith argues Jon Jones deserves the spot due to his longevity and dominance across three generations.

“I still think it’s Jon Jones… He’s gone through 3 different generations of fighters and has continued to win. And again, Islam has taken a legitimate loss and Jon Jones hasn’t… I think you take them all and put them in a room, Jon Jones walks out,” Smith said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.
Both fighters recently impressed—Jones defeated Stipe Miocic via TKO, while Makhachev submitted Renato Moicano in the first round. Despite the debate, Makhachev remains the official No. 1 P4P fighter.
