In UFC history, countless legends have come and gone quietly, but some left a lasting impact with their skills and voices. From Conor McGregor to Tito Ortiz, the list of unforgettable talkers is long. Yet, for many fans, the crown for the most excellent trash talker belongs to Chael Sonnen, the self-proclaimed ‘Bad Guy’. Recently, even Daniel Cormier, the UFC’s ‘Good Guy’, threw in the towel during a trash talk battle, calling Chael the greatest in the game.
Cormier and Sonnen faced off in a trash-talking challenge, but DC didn’t stand a chance. ‘Bad Guy’ unleashed a savage rant, claiming he beat Jon Jones despite ‘Bones’ cheating, bragging about ripping off Jones’ toe, and saying the current HW champ avoids Tom Aspinall because of the damage he did.
He finished by reminding DC that he beat him while DC didn’t. Laughing and defeated, the former double champ gave up, admitting he couldn’t compete with Chael’s legendary trash-talking skills. “I can’t trash-talk with this dude. He’s one of the greatest trash talkers in the history of the game,” Cormier said.

"Those 100 New Yorkers will run into those 50 Dagestanis. Them Dagestani dudes might be smoking, but at the end of the day, they still know how to wrestle."

Sean O’Malley Crowns Chael Sonnen As UFC’s Best Trash Talker

Recently, O’Malley was asked to name the fighter he thinks has the best mic skills, which matter almost as much as fighting in the UFC. At first, he picked his idol, Conor McGregor. But then he paused and changed his answer to Sonnen, the former UFC middleweight contender. For O’Malley, Chael’s way of using words was just too good to ignore.
Undoubtedly, ‘The American Gangster’ is a master of one-liners, blending sharp wit, bold arrogance, and pure entertainment like no one else in MMA. Whether hyping a fight or tearing down an opponent, his words leave a lasting impact. Sonnen didn’t just talk trash; he turned it into an art form that fans still quote today. That’s why everyone thinks he is the greatest, from Daniel Cormier to Sean O’Malley.
