Dustin Poirier is giving his former foe some essential tips ahead of an important matchup. It is already known that Poirier and Chandler have a longstanding rivalry. However, as Chandler is shaping up to face Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314, ‘Diamond’ has detailed what Chandler must be aiming for going into the fight. And the message is pretty simple- don’t lose!
In a recent episode of the ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’ podcast, Poirier stated that Chandler must now prove his worth in the division. He continued by saying that if Chandler loses, he would probably lose a lot of credibility as a top talent in the division. Thus, it is pretty important for him to stop an emerging talent like Pimblett.
“To me, as a fighter and a fan, Chandler is at a crossroads here… He’s taking on a young guy who has a lot of hype, but his track record has been kind of rocky in the UFC. He came over, right out the gate, big win, then up and down, up and down. This is a big test for Chandler to show he deserves to be at the top of the division,” said Poirier.
Surely, Poirier has a point here. Waiting for Conor McGregor for a fairly long time hindered his growth. However, after he did come back, Chandler failed to win against Charles Oliveira despite putting up a brave showing. Thus, he really cannot let the opportunity slip. Going by Chandler’s confidence, he seems to be in a killer mood.

“Man, I’m going to go out there and do exactly what I always do. I’m going to have one foot on the gas, one foot on Paddy’s throat. I’m going to throw big bombs, and we’re going to see if he sinks or swims,” said Chandler.
However, it is easier said than done. Paddy Pimblett has been on the rise recently. His round 1 victory against King Green has been a topic of much discussion at the moment in the UFC. Thus, with intensity building up, it remains to be seen who walks out victorious come UFC 314.
