Henry Cejudo has had one of the most illustrious careers in the UFC. Competing in the bantamweight division, ‘Triple C’ soon became one of the most popular fighters in the division. Joining the UFC way back in 2014, Cejudo began with four back-to-back wins. While he faced several ups and downs during his stay in the promotion, it all ended.
In a recent announcement, Cejudo stated that the time has come for him to hang up his gloves for good. Speaking to ‘Helen Yee Sports,’ Cejudo mentioned that his next fight in the UFC will be the last.
“This is my last one. I want to leave this sport unscathed. The first time at the age of 33 I did it right, retired young… I got one more in me, make some money then that’s it. I’m out,” said Cejudo.

Surely, this marks the end of an era. Building his legacy in the promotion, Cejudo scaled right to the top of the bantamweight division, becoming a champion. Unfortunately, he lost the belt to Aljamain Sterling, which was followed by two more losses. Meanwhile, while Cejudo’s departure marks the conclusion of one era, the new generation is already here to take over.
Merab Dvalishvili Looks To Consolidate His Bantamweight Legacy

Interestingly, the current UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili’s rise to the top began with Henry Cejudo. It was his performance against Cejudo that made him come into the limelight. Now that Dvalishvili is the champion, he is looking to make a lasting impact. However, standing in his way is Sean O’Malley. In a recent statement, he issued quite a surprising detail. ‘Suga’ stated that he was suffering from a groin injury when the two met earlier.

“I’m going to be 70% better than I was in that first fight. I’m going to be significantly more mobile, agile, better shape. I’m gonna fight at my full potential,” said O’Malley.

Thus, with Henry Cejudo’s successors ready to take over, it remains to be seen which way the UFC bantamweight division heads.
