Brazil has always been a powerhouse of UFC fighters. Alongside Dagestan, Brazil has provided some of the biggest stars of the UFC. And that legacy has continued until now. The likes of Charles Oliveira and Alex Pereira have attained legendary status. While Oliveira has been the lightweight icon, Pereira owns the light heavyweight division. Unfortunately, all of that dominance seems to be fading away.
In the current year so far, as many as 7 Brazilian fighters have bitten the dust. And this includes the big names too! Starting with Alex Pereira, he was looking indestructible last year. Turning up thrice to defend his belt, ‘Poatan’ established himself as a superpower. But in his first attempt of 2025, Magomed Ankalaev managed to get the better of him.

Next up was Renato Moicano. Getting an unprecedented title shot against Islam Makhachev, it was heaven for Moicano. With Arman Tsarukyan pulling out, Moicano had the perfect opportunity to claim the lightweight title. Unfortunately, Makhachev proved to be too strong and submitted him easily. And just a day prior, it was. Charles Oliveira. Once considered a legend, Oliveira got knocked out in the very first round by a raging Ilia Topuria. Sadly enough, while all these losses hurt, the list is still not over.
Gilbert Burns And More Paint A Sorrowful Picture For Brazil In UFC

Burns was once considered an upcoming star. Unfortunately, Burns failed to live up to the expectations. He is currently on a four-fight losing streak. The latest of them came in May 2025, against Michael Morales.

Coming in next is Diego Lopes. Putting up some dominant performances, Lopes quickly emerged as the suitor for the featherweight championship. Fighting against Alexander Volkanovski, Lopes got dominated and is now working hard to get his mojo back. Lastly, Carlos Prates and Deiveson Figueiredo complete the list of the unfortunate fighters from Brazil who failed in 2025. However, despite the sombre stat, it remains to be seen whether these quality fighters can get back up and shine.
