Joe Rogan recently reflected on Israel Adesanya’s comeback as a moment that felt larger than life, almost too perfect to be real. After facing adversity in the first fight, Adesanya delivered a stunning counter in the second, catching Alex Pereira with a clean cross that ended the fight instantly. However, what truly stood out to Rogan was the authenticity of the moment and how good Izzy’s speech at the post-fight interview was.
In a recent JRE episode, a UFC commentator remarked that it felt like something one would expect from a perfectly written movie scene, yet there was a rawness to it that only real life could offer. The post-fight speech, filled with emotion and defiance, seemed to pour out of Adesanya without premeditation.
Adesanya stated, “Fortify your mind and feel this level of happiness, and let’s rise. One time in your life… but I’m blessed to be able to feel that, again and again and again and again and again.”
To which Rogan says, “It sounds like 15 writers sat in a room and came up with the lines. I should ask him next time I talk to him. I bet that just came right out in the moment, just right there. It was a perfect event for him. You couldn’t script that better in a movie.”
Indeed, it was a powerful display of passion and perseverance, and to Rogan, it was clear that no amount of scripting could match the impact of what had just unfolded live.

The UFC commentator recently wondered why strikes to the back of the head are banned when other risky areas like the temple or jaw are allowed. He finds this odd and wants the rule reviewed. Rogan says the skull is fragile, and experts warn that all areas can be severely harmed. If temple or eye strikes are legal, banning the back seems unfair. He calls for equal rules for head strikes.
It will be interesting to see if Dana White listens to Rogan or if others in the UFC start talking about it. Rogan has been around the sport for a long time, so his opinion matters. Even if the rule doesn’t change soon, his words could get people thinking.
