Jon Jones has started using trash talk in classic Conor McGregor fashion to stir things up with Tom Aspinall. The English fighter is growing increasingly frustrated, having held the interim heavyweight title for a long time without a shot at the undisputed belt. While Dana White has yet to announce the fight, ‘Bones’ is officially fueling the buzz with his ongoing verbal jabs.
Frustration is growing over the long delay in booking the heavyweight unification fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. Recently, Aspinall told Demetrious Johnson on his podcast that his focus is no longer just on beating Jones — he wants a shot at the undisputed title. He even said it would be okay if he never got to face Jones. In response, Jones took to social media and mocked Aspinall’s comments about being tired of waiting, replying sharply,
“Shut your mouth and do as you’re told.”

Javier Mendez Believes Jon Jones Won’t Accept the Aspinall Fight Unless the UFC Offers a Massive Payday

While Dana White recently teased some exciting summer fights, fans are still holding out for the long-awaited Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall matchup. In a chat with Tim Welch, Mendez explained,

“Jon Jones is not the type of guy that likes to lose. He’s such a winner in every aspect of what he does that you’re not going to push him into a fight. If he doesn’t feel he can win that fight and doesn’t have a good advantage, he’s not gonna take it.”
Mendez also recognized that Aspinall poses a real threat to ‘Bones.’ If the fight happens this year, it’s almost certain to be one of the biggest matchups of 2025.
